DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Tiger 800 XR arrived in 2015 as the road-going base of the new Tiger 800 range, with cast wheels, an upright riding position and the kind of practicality that makes a motorcycle everyday transport. Everyday transport in winter means riding in the dark, in the morning and again on the way home. The Accossato EDF014 is an aluminium brake lever for the XR of 2015 to 2018. It fits the original master cylinder, and an adjuster near the pivot brings the blade to wherever your hand expects it, whether you can see it or not.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Tiger 800 XR, 2015 to 2018
- Mounts on the stock master cylinder
- Distance to the grip set with an adjuster near the pivot
- Three lengths, the standard blade about 138 mm; long blades in blue, gold, green and orange, short ones also in silver
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised in two tones
- Black hub, blade colour chosen from seven
- Rigid blade, no hinge
- For the track: no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Every EDF014 is machined from solid aluminium and then anodised. The hub, black on all versions, holds the pivot bore and the adjuster, and the blade carries the colour. Machining from the solid, rather than casting, produces clean edges and a blade with the same section from end to end, so it feels even under the fingers wherever your hand lands on it. With no folding joint anywhere, the lever is a single rigid part, and nothing between hub and tip can work loose over a winter of wet commutes.
After Dark
At night you do not look at your controls. The headlight shows the road ahead, the dashboard glows, and the brake lever is somewhere in the darkness beyond your right hand, found only by feel. That makes its position a matter of habit. If the blade sits where your fingers fall naturally, the hand finds it without searching, and the moment between seeing a hazard and starting to brake is spent braking. If it sits too far out, that moment goes on reaching for it. Set the reach on the XR in the gloves you wear for dark commutes, which in winter are usually thicker than your summer pair, and then leave it alone: the point is that the lever is in the same place every evening. The standard blade, closest to the original, is the natural choice for everyday riding on the Tiger 800 XR, while the long version gives gloved fingers a little more to hold.
Fitment and Compatibility
This lever is listed by Accossato for the Tiger 800 XR from 2015 to 2018. On the left side, the EST333P clutch lever covers the same model years. The better-equipped XRx and the off-road XC versions appear as separate listings, so check the badge on your side panel before ordering.
Road Approval
Because no German ABE has been documented for the EDF014, it is sold for track riding.
