Suzuki gave the SFV650 Gladius the name of a Roman short sword and a shape meant to be looked at: a curvy tank, an exposed frame and flowing lines that set it apart from the SV650 whose V-twin engine it inherited. It was a motorcycle bought as much with the eyes as with the head, and that makes colour a real question when parts are replaced. The Accossato EDF014 is a brake lever for the Gladius of 2009 to 2015, machined from aluminium and anodised, with a black hub, a blade in the colour of your choice and a reach you set yourself.

Construction and Material Quality
Colour on anodised aluminium looks different from paint. Because the dye sits inside a translucent oxide layer grown from the metal, the machined surface underneath still shows through and gives the finish a slight metallic depth. The EDF014 is cut from aluminium on CNC machines before it is anodised, and the hub, which contains the pivot and the reach adjuster, is finished black on every version. Only the blade takes the colour. It is a fixed lever, one continuous part from the hub out to the tip.
Choosing a Colour for the Gladius
Suzuki sold the Gladius in several colour schemes over its seven model years, so there is no single right blade colour, only the one that suits your bike. Three approaches work well. Matching the blade to a strong body colour, a red or a blue for example, makes the lever part of the paint scheme. Picking up a secondary colour, perhaps that of the frame or a graphic on the tank, links details that are otherwise far apart. And where the paintwork is already busy, black or silver lets the lever stay in the background. Because the hub is black on every version, even a bright blade has a dark base that ties it to the switch housing. Whichever you choose, it is worth ordering the clutch lever in the same colour, so that the handlebar looks deliberate from the saddle. Seen from the rider's seat, the two levers are among the most visible parts of the Gladius after the instruments.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF014 for the SFV 650 Gladius from 2009 to 2015. It fits the original master cylinder in place of the stock lever, and its partner on the left is the ESS248 clutch lever, listed for the same years. If you are planning a matching pair, note which colours come in which lengths: blue, gold, green and orange are made short, standard and long; silver short and standard; red and black only as standard levers of approximately 138 mm.
Road Approval
Accossato provides no documented German ABE for this lever. It is therefore sold for track use.
