DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Tiger 800 XCx is the better-equipped version of Triumph's off-road-leaning middleweight, and its spoked wheels and long suspension travel invite owners onto gravel roads and forest tracks. Going up a steep track is usually the easy part. Coming back down, with the bike's weight pushing forward and loose stones under the tyres, is where the front brake needs the most careful handling. The Accossato EDF014 is a CNC-machined brake lever for the XCx of 2015 to 2018, fitted to the original master cylinder, with a distance to the grip you set to your own hand.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Tiger 800 XCx, 2015 to 2018
- Fits the original master cylinder in place of the stock lever
- Reach to the grip adjustable on the lever
- Standard blade about 138 mm, plus short and long versions in selected colours
- Machined from solid aluminium, anodised
- Hub black, blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green
- Fixed, one-piece blade
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato does not cast this lever. The EDF014 is cut from solid aluminium on computer-controlled machines, which gives every blade the same profile and thickness, and it is then anodised: black on the hub that carries the pivot and the adjuster, a colour of your choice on the blade. The finish belongs to the metal rather than lying on top of it, so dust and the odd brush against a hedge leave less of a mark than they would on paint. There is no hinge anywhere; hub and tip are one piece.
Steep Tracks, Downhill
On a steep, loose descent, the XCx shifts its weight onto the front wheel the moment you brake, and a front tyre on gravel has far less grip than the same tyre on tarmac. Experienced riders let the rear brake and the engine in a low gear do much of the work and use the front with a light, steady hand, ready to let go the instant the front starts to slide. That release is the critical part. If the blade sits far out, the fingers are stretched and the hand tends to clamp; if it sits within easy reach, one or two fingers can hold a small, even pressure and ease off smoothly. Set the reach on the XCx in the position you actually ride downhill, whether seated with the weight back or standing with bent knees, because the angle of the hand differs between the two. Many riders pick the short blade for rough ground, as it leaves more of the hand wrapped around the grip.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list, the EDF014 is given for the Tiger 800 XCx from 2015 to 2018, and the EST333P clutch lever covers the same bikes, so both can be ordered in one colour. The XC without the x, the road-going XR and the XRx have listings of their own. Green, gold, orange and blue blades come short, standard or long, silver short or standard, black and red in standard length only.
Road Approval
There is no documented German ABE for this lever. Its intended place is the track.
