DescriptionThe whole story▼
The W800 is Kawasaki's modern take on its own past: an air-cooled vertical twin with a bevel-driven camshaft, spoked wheels, chrome and a silhouette that recalls the W1 of the 1960s. On a motorcycle like this, bright modern accessories can look out of place, and the choice of finish matters as much as the part itself. The Accossato EDF014 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the W800, listed from 2011 to 2016 and again from 2019 to 2024, and it is made in silver and black as well as five brighter colours.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the Kawasaki W800, 2011 to 2016 and 2019 to 2024
- Silver or black blade for a classic look, or one of five brighter colours
- Hub anodised black
- Adjustable distance to the grip
- Standard length about 138 mm; short in blue, gold, green, orange and silver, long in blue, gold, green and orange
- Fits the original master cylinder
- Machined aluminium, rigid blade without a hinge
Construction and Material Quality
Classic motorcycles are full of bright metal, and the EDF014 sits comfortably among it because it is aluminium through and through. Accossato machines it on CNC equipment and anodises it, which leaves a hard, even surface; in silver the lever keeps the look of bare metal, and in black it recedes into the cockpit. The hub, which carries the pivot and the adjuster, is always black. The blade is one fixed piece, without a hinge, so the lever behaves like the simple, solid part it looks like.
Silver, Black and a Classic Twin
Choosing a lever colour for a W800 is mostly a question of how visible you want it to be. Silver is closest to the character of the bike: it picks up the chrome and polished metal found around the W800, and the black hub gives it a neat edge. Black suits a W800 in darker paint, where the aim is a restrained look, and it disappears against the switchgear. The brighter colours, red, orange, blue, green and gold, turn the lever into a deliberate accent; on a classic bike they look most convincing if the colour is repeated somewhere else, in the paint, a pinstripe or the stitching of the seat. Length is a separate question. The standard blade matches the relaxed, upright riding position of the W800 well; silver also comes as a short blade for two-finger braking, while the long version is made in blue, gold, green and orange only.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF014 for the W800 from 2011 to 2016 and again from 2019 to 2024, with entries for the W800 of 2011 to 2016, the W800 Café of 2019 and 2020, the W800 Street of 2019 to 2021 and the W800 of 2021 to 2024. The gap reflects the break between the first generation, which ended in 2016, and the new one launched for 2019. The ESK750 clutch lever is listed for the first generation only, from 2012 to 2016.
Road Approval
For the EDF014, no German ABE has been documented. It is sold for use on closed circuits.
