DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sit on a Tiger 1200 XR in traffic and you see the road as few other vehicles let you see it: over the roofs of the cars ahead and several places down the queue. That view is one of the quiet advantages of a tall adventure bike, and it changes how you can use the brake. Accossato's EDF014 is a brake lever for the road-going Tiger 1200 XR of 2018 to 2021, shaped from aluminium on CNC equipment. It goes onto the original master cylinder, and an adjuster lets you decide how far the blade stands from the grip.

Construction and Material Quality
Light braking is done with the fingertips, and fingertips notice the surface they rest on. The EDF014 is milled from aluminium by CNC machines, so its edges are clean and its section runs evenly along the blade, and it is then anodised, which leaves a hard, smooth skin. The black hub holds the pivot and, close beside it, the adjuster for the reach; the blade carries whichever of the seven colours you pick. It is a rigid lever, a single piece without a hinge, so what your fingers feel is the brake and nothing else.
Reading the Queue From Above
From the saddle of the XR you can often see brake lights come on three or four cars ahead, long before the car directly in front reacts. That is information worth using. Instead of waiting for the vehicle ahead to slow and then braking hard behind it, roll off early and begin with a gentle squeeze as soon as the lights further down the line glow. Stops become longer and softer, the fork compresses without a jolt, and anyone following gets an earlier warning from your brake light. This style of riding lives in the first part of the lever's travel, where the pads are just beginning to work. Set the reach so the blade sits close under your fingers while the hand is relaxed on the grip, because a lever that needs a stretch tends to be used late and then firmly. On the road-going Tiger 1200, many riders stay with the standard length, which feels like the original and suits braking with three or four fingers.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Tiger 1200 of 2018 to 2021 is a single line on Accossato's list, and the EDF014 fits the original master cylinder of that series. As the list does not tell the XR apart from the XRx, the XCx or any other version, we have created one product for each version in our garage; this one is for the Tiger 1200 XR over the full span from 2018 to 2021. No clutch lever is named in the entry.
Road Approval
The EDF014 has no documented German ABE. For that reason we sell it as a track part.
