DescriptionThe whole story▼
The V-Strom 250 is the entry point to Suzuki's adventure-touring family: a quarter-litre parallel twin with the upright stance, the beak and the luggage-friendly shape of its bigger siblings. Many owners use it exactly as intended, for long trips at an unhurried pace, often with panniers and a top box. For the DL250 of 2017 to 2021, Accossato makes the EDF014, a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the original master cylinder, with a reach you can adjust and three blade lengths to choose from.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Suzuki DL250 V-Strom, 2017 to 2021
- Fits the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustment on the lever
- Short, standard and long blades; standard about 138 mm
- Machined from aluminium and anodised
- Hub in black, blade in one of seven colours
- Non-folding, one-piece design
Construction and Material Quality
The EDF014 is milled from aluminium rather than cast and then anodised in two tones. Black is reserved for the hub, the part around the pivot that also holds the reach adjuster, while the blade takes the colour. Machining gives the blade an even section along its length, so the load from your fingers is carried in the same way at the tip as near the hub. Anodising seals the surface with a hard oxide layer, which suits a bike that is ridden in all weathers and parked wherever the day happens to end. The lever is fixed, with no folding section anywhere in it.
Loaded for a Long, Slow Trip
Luggage changes a small motorcycle more than a big one. Panniers, a top box and a tent roll add weight that the V-Strom 250 has to stop with brakes sized for a quarter-litre bike, and much of that extra mass sits high and behind the rider. The effect is not dramatic, but you notice it: stopping takes longer, and the front dips further when you brake late. The answer lies in the way you use the lever. Begin braking earlier, squeeze progressively instead of grabbing, and give the front end a moment to take the weight before you add more pressure. That style asks for a lever your fingers can modulate finely, and this is where the adjustable reach earns its keep. With the blade set so that your fingers wrap around it at the first joint, small changes in pressure are easy to feel and easy to make. Riders with smaller hands may also like the short blade, available in blue, gold, green, orange and silver.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF014 for the Suzuki DL250 V-Strom from 2017 to 2021, where it fits the original master cylinder. The clutch side has its own Accossato part, the ESS248, listed for the V-Strom 250 from 2018 to 2020, so owners of a 2018 to 2020 bike can fit a matching pair. Black and red blades are made in the standard length only.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for this V-Strom 250 brake lever, so it is sold for track use only.
