DescriptionThe whole story▼
Among the road-going versions of Triumph's big adventure tourer, the Tiger 1200 XRx carries more equipment than the XR, and it is the kind of motorcycle that gets ridden in October as readily as in June. Autumn brings its own conditions, and fog is one of them: a grey wall across a valley road that turns a familiar commute into guesswork. Accossato's EDF014 is a brake lever for the XRx of 2018 to 2021, milled from aluminium and mounted on the original master cylinder, with a reach you can set so your fingers find it without searching.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Tiger 1200 XRx, 2018 to 2021
- Original master cylinder of the Tiger 1200 range
- Reach set by an adjuster next to the pivot
- Standard blade (about 138 mm) in every colour, short in five, long in four
- Aluminium, machined on CNC equipment and anodised
- Black hub with a coloured blade
- Fixed blade, no hinge
- No German ABE documented; sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Damp air, cold mornings and roads wet with dew are hard on bare metal, and on an XRx ridden through autumn the brake lever sits right in the airflow. The EDF014 is machined from aluminium and then anodised, which converts its surface into a hard oxide layer that protects the metal beneath and carries the colour of the blade. The hub, home to the pivot and the reach adjuster, is black on every version. From there to the tip the lever is a single rigid piece, with no folding joint for moisture and road grime to settle in, and a wipe with a damp cloth is all it needs.
When the Fog Comes Down
Fog changes the arithmetic of braking. When you can see only a short way ahead, everything that asks you to slow down arrives late: the tail lights of a slow tractor, the queue at a roundabout, a cyclist with a weak lamp. The first rule is speed, slow enough to stop within the distance you can see. The second is a hand that is ready. On the XRx, set the reach so the blade rests just ahead of your fingertips in your cold-weather gloves, and ride with the fingers loose rather than clamped around the bar. When something takes shape in the grey, the hand is already in place, and braking can begin as a firm, progressive squeeze instead of a grab. Think of the drivers behind you, who see even less of you than you see of the road: brake early and smoothly so your brake light glows well before you slow down hard. And wipe the visor often, because fog condenses outside as well as in.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the EDF014 appears for the Tiger 1200 from 2018 to 2021, with no separate line for the equipment levels. The lever fits the original master cylinder of that series, and because our garage lists each version on its own, the Tiger 1200 XRx has its own product for those four years. The entry includes no Accossato clutch lever.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for this lever, and we supply it for circuit use.
