DescriptionThe whole story▼
A lower seat solves the problem of reaching the ground; it does nothing for the reach to the levers. Many riders who choose the Tiger 800 XRx Low are shorter than average, and shorter riders often, though not always, have smaller hands as well. For them, the length and position of the brake lever deserve a few minutes' thought. Accossato's EDF014 for the XRx Low, listed for 2015 to 2020, is a machined aluminium lever for the original master cylinder, and its blade can be brought closer to the grip.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Tiger 800 XRx Low, 2015 to 2020
- Fits the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable, with the adjuster by the pivot
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange and silver
- Standard blade, about 138 mm, in all seven colours; long blade in blue, gold, green and orange
- Machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
- Rigid one-piece blade
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the EDF014 from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodises it afterwards. The hub, black whatever blade colour you order, contains the pivot and the reach adjuster; the blade is anodised in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green. Because the lever is milled rather than cast, every blade has the same clean profile, with no hinge along its length. For a small hand, that means the fingers land on the same spot each time they close, which is the basis of a consistent feel.
Starting With Your Glove Size
There is a simple way to decide how to set up a brake lever, and it begins with the gloves you ride in. Sit on the XRx Low with the bike upright, the hand relaxed on the grip and the wrist straight, then let your fingers fall onto the blade. The first joint of the index and middle fingers should rest on it without the hand rolling forward on the grip. If only the fingertips reach, bring the blade in a little and try again. Riders in small or extra-small gloves usually end up with the blade well in, and many prefer the short version, which lets two fingers work the brake while the ring and little finger stay around the throttle. Medium hands tend to feel at home with the standard blade, the one closest to the original. The long blade makes sense for large hands, or for anyone who brakes with all four fingers. Repeat the check in winter gloves, as thicker padding pushes the fingers outward.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF014 for the Tiger 800 across 2015 to 2020 and separately for the Tiger 800 Low from 2016 to 2019, in neither case naming versions such as the XRx Low. The lever sits on the original master cylinder of the series. We offer it as a product of its own for the Tiger 800 XRx Low and use the wider span of the main entry, 2015 to 2020. Accossato lists no clutch lever for this version; its EST333P clutch lever is listed for the XC, XCx, XR and XRx of 2015 to 2018 instead.
Road Approval
Accossato's EDF014 has no documented German ABE; we therefore offer it for the track.
