DescriptionThe whole story▼
An XSR900 with aftermarket levers and a stock plastic reservoir is a half-finished job. LighTech machines the OBT007 from billet and lines it in plastic so 16 cm³ of fluid stays visible. The shell comes in 8 anodised colours. It is among the least expensive visible changes you can make to an XSR900.
Key Features
- LighTech part number OBT007, listed for the Yamaha XSR900
- 16 cm³ capacity — the figure to check against your XSR900 master cylinder
- Billet aluminium outer shell, machined from solid
- Supplied individually for the XSR900
- Universal by design: LighTech builds one reservoir, not one per Yamaha model
- It is the cheapest visible change on an XSR900
Looking After It
Fluid darkens as it absorbs water — on the XSR900 that is now visible without tools. There is no service interval for the part itself.
Why the Original Falls Short
A fluid reservoir does two things, and the factory part does only one of them. LighTech machines the OBT007 shell from billet and lines it with translucent plastic, so 16 cm³ of fluid is readable without tools. The bracket is a separate LighTech article and is only made in black.
What It Fits
LighTech catalogues the OBT007 for the XSR900 (2013 to 2026). LighTech builds this reservoir as a universal part — it is not machined to the XSR900 specifically, and the fit depends on where you mount it.
Installation
Installation on the XSR900 needs no special service tool. Brake fluid strips paint — cover the XSR900 tank and fairing before you open anything. Re-check the fasteners after the first ride.
What Is in the Box
The OBT007 arrives as the tank, the cap and the gasket. Spares are listed under their own numbers rather than bundled.
What You Also Need
LighTech sells the reservoir and its mount as separate articles. The brackets are listed under OBT003, OBT008 and OBT009; they differ in height and projection, not in quality. Tell us where you want it on the XSR900 and we will put the right bracket on the order.
Approval and Safety
On an XSR900 this component carries brake or clutch fluid under pressure. Nothing in the OBT007 box constitutes a type approval. On a registered XSR900, clarify the change with your inspection body, and let a workshop bleed and test the system after fitting.
