DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a Z1000 the reservoir sits in plain sight at the bar, unstyled. Enter the OBT007: a 16 cm³ billet reservoir at 106 g, built to replace the original box. 8 finishes exist; see the specifications for the full range. The 1043 cc Z1000 takes it with the standard fittings.
Key Features
- A stock LighTech item rather than a special order
- Laser-marked with the LighTech logo
- 106 g on the Z1000
- It is the cheapest visible change on a Z1000
- Laser-engraved LighTech logo on the shell
- Reversible — the original part goes back on the Z1000 any time
Looks and Maintenance at Once
There is a reason race bikes carry visible reservoirs. At 16 cm³ the OBT007 matches the capacity the original reservoir of the Z1000 carries. Anodised rather than painted, so washing the Z1000 does not dull it.
What It Fits
This listing covers the Kawasaki Z1000, 2005 to 2024. It is a universal article in LighTech's own description; the Z1000 is the application, not the design brief.
Looking After It
A translucent liner only helps if you look at it; make the OBT007 part of the pre-ride check. There is no service interval for the part itself.
Fitting
Fitting the OBT007 to a Z1000 is a hand-tool job. Brake fluid strips paint — cover the Z1000 tank and fairing before you open anything. The OBT007 leaves no trace on the Z1000 if you take it off again.
Order This With It
A mount is not included with the OBT007. Mounting hardware is a separate line: OBT008 forward, OBT009 rearward, OBT003 as the general support. Tell us where you want it on the Z1000 and we will put the right bracket on the order.
Scope of Delivery
LighTech ships the OBT007 complete except for the mount. Spares are listed under their own numbers rather than bundled.
Road Use and Approval
This part sits in the brake or clutch hydraulic circuit, which makes it more than a styling item. The OBT007 carries no approval mark. Track-only machines raise no approval question; a registered Z1000 does.
