DescriptionThe whole story▼
An MT-09 shows everything, including the plastic reservoir the factory fitted. That is what the OBT007 does — 16 cm³ of fluid behind billet aluminium, 106 g on the bike. Colour is the only variable: 8 options, identical in every other respect. Nothing on the MT-09 is cut or drilled to fit it.
Key Features
- Made in Italy
- Supplied with a rubber gasket that seals the cap against leaks
- 106 g in place of the original box
- 8 anodised finishes for the MT-09: Black, Blue, Gold, Green, Grey, Orange, Red, Silver
- 16 cm³ capacity — the figure to check against your MT-09 master cylinder
- Covers the MT-09 across 14 model years (2013 to 2026)
Why Replace the Reservoir
A fluid reservoir does two things, and the factory part does only one of them. Billet outside for strength and finish, plastic inside for visibility — that is the whole idea of the OBT007. Anodised rather than painted, so washing the MT-09 does not dull it.
Fitment
This listing covers the Yamaha MT-09, 2013 to 2026. This is not a model-specific casting — LighTech makes one reservoir and lets the mounting decide the fit.
Care and Checks
Fluid darkens as it absorbs water — on the MT-09 that is now visible without tools. Otherwise it is a fit-and-forget item on the MT-09.
In the Workshop
The OBT007 replaces an existing part on the MT-09 rather than adding one. Use fresh fluid of the grade the MT-09 specifies, not what is left in the bottle. Instructions are in the box; the MT-09 needs no modification.
What You Also Need
One thing to order alongside: the bracket. Three mounts exist — OBT003, OBT008 and OBT009 — and which suits the MT-09 depends on where you want the tank. Order the OBT007 together with a bracket and the MT-09 installation is complete.
What You Get
The OBT007 arrives as the tank, the cap and the gasket. The part number is all you need to quote for a repeat order on the MT-09.
Approval Status
A fluid reservoir is part of the braking system, and German law treats it that way. LighTech supplies no type-approval document with the OBT007, and we make no approval claim for it. For a road-registered MT-09 in Germany, have the installation assessed before you rely on it — and have the system bled and checked by a workshop afterwards.
