DescriptionThe whole story▼
A race start is the roughest treatment a front brake gets all weekend. The pads are barely warm from the sighting lap, twenty riders arrive at the first corner together, and the point at which anybody begins to slow is decided by whoever is bravest rather than by anything rehearsed. Accossato's EV2 racing compound is made for that part of the job. Article AGPA177EV2 carries it on the AGPA177 plate for the front wheel of a Ducati Hypermotard 939 of 2016 to 2018, and the maker's own summary of the material is a top racing compound.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Ducati Hypermotard 939, seasons 2016 to 2018
- AGPA177EV2: the EV2 racing compound on the AGPA177 plate
- Accossato's description of the material: a top racing compound
- Built for hard, repeated work rather than for a gentle commute
- Limited heat build-up is what keeps fade at bay
- Two pads per box; a complete front axle of the 939 takes two boxes
- ST, EV1 and ZXC are the other faces on this plate
- No German ABE and no test certificate here; racing equipment
Construction and Material Quality
Competition material is a different animal at the two ends of a session. It prefers to be warm, it accepts load after load without complaint, and it asks to be brought up to temperature before it is trusted completely. Accossato says of this one only that it is a top racing compound, and puts its resistance to fade down to the fact that it does not let its own temperature run away. Behind the face, the plate is the steel used for every other AGPA177 article; the compound is the whole of the difference.
The First Three Laps
Grid to flag, a club race is short, and the opening laps matter out of proportion. A rider who cannot use the front brake fully until lap four has already lost the places that decide the result. That is the argument for a deliberate out-lap: two or three firm applications from speed on the way to the grid put warmth into the pads and the discs of the Hypermotard 939 without wasting the tyres. Then comes the start itself, where the first corner is entered in company and the front is loaded harder than at any other moment of the day. A material that copes with that, over and over, is doing more for a race result than most of the parts riders spend money on.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's entries cover the AGPA177 at the front of the Hypermotard 939 for 2016 to 2018, listing the standard machine and the SP version. Since each box contains the pair one caliper takes, and this Ducati has a caliper on each side of the front wheel, anybody ordering for a season should count in twos. The rear pads for the same model years are the AGPA42, and DK053 and DKS053 are the disc references Accossato gives for this model.
Road Approval
No German ABE exists in our paperwork for these pads, nor any other form of approval. They are competition parts and belong on a circuit.
Scope of Delivery
