Cloud comes over an alpine pass faster than a rider can react to it. The ascent is dry and warm, the summit is in fog, and the descent on the far side is a series of hairpins on a cold, damp surface with a pillion asking how much further it is. An Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory handles that better than its purpose suggests, provided the front brake behaves the same going down as it did coming up. Accossato offers the AGPA177 pad in the Sintered (ST) compound for the Factory of 2015 and 2016.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's line on this material is worth taking at face value: the grip level stays high and constant at high and at low temperatures, and the compound keeps working when the disc is wet. On a descent both halves matter at once. The pads begin cold at the summit, are asked for a firm application at every hairpin, and end the pass hot enough that any softening would show up as a lever creeping towards the bar. Restrained wear is the other property the firm claims across its pad programme, which a rider notices on a heavy machine used for distance. The friction layer sits on the standard AGPA177 plate, made for the calipers the Factory carries as standard, and a box holds one caliper's pair.
Down a Pass When the Cloud Comes In
Descending is harder work than climbing and it is where a tour goes wrong. The engine helps less than it did on the way up, the bike is loaded with a passenger and luggage, and the same firm application arrives every few seconds for a quarter of an hour. Riders who do this regularly use a gear low enough that the engine takes part of the load, brake in short decisive applications rather than dragging the lever, and stop at a viewpoint to let everything cool before the next stage. Before a trip, look at the thickness of the front pads on the Tuono V4 1100 Factory and at the state of the fluid; a pass in bad weather is an unwelcome place to discover that neither had much left to give.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato assigns this front pad to the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory built in 2015 and 2016. The rear of the same machine is covered by the AGPA42 across a wider period, 2015 to 2018, so the two ends do not share an identical span in the catalogue and are worth checking separately against your year. With a caliper on each fork leg and one box per caliper, a finished front change takes two boxes fitted at the same time.
Road Approval
We have no German ABE for this pad and no test certificate to show, which means we can only offer it for competition and for circuits closed to ordinary traffic.
