Not every Hypermotard has a heated garage waiting for it. Plenty stand under a cover at the side of a house, and the Ducati Hypermotard 950 RVE, the version wearing the graffiti-style paint, is bought by people who use it rather than polish it. A machine that lives outside begins its working day with cold, damp discs every time. For its front wheel Accossato lists the AGPA177 plate across 2020 to 2024, and AGPA177ST is the Sintered article, credited by the company with an even grip level at high and low temperature and with grip in the wet.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds one plate for this shape and varies what is pressed onto it, and here that is the sintered material. The claim attached to it is about the absence of surprises: cold or hot, dry or streaming with water, the grip level is supposed to sit in the same place. Material of that description is also unhurried about wearing out, which suits an owner who would rather ride a Hypermotard 950 RVE through the winter than take the wheel out twice a season.
A Bike That Lives Outdoors
Standing in the weather is harder on the brake hardware than on the pads themselves. Moisture creeps past a tired dust seal and settles behind the piston, the carrier corrodes where the pads slide, and by spring the pads have worn unevenly because one of them has stopped moving freely. The signs are worth knowing. A front wheel that will not coast, a smell of hot metal after a gentle ride, or one pad noticeably thinner than its partner all point the same way. When the pads next come out of the Hypermotard 950 RVE, clean the sliding surfaces, work each piston out a little and push it back, and look at the rubber. A cover that reaches the ground traps damp against the machine, so leave the bottom open to the air.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's catalogue treats the RVE as an entry of its own and lists the AGPA177 at the front wheel of the Hypermotard 950 RVE from 2020 to 2024, under the same pad reference used for the standard 950. A box holds the pair for one caliper and this model has two of them up front, so two boxes make a full change. The AGPA42 is the rear pad for the same years, and the disc Accossato names for the RVE is the DKS053.
Road Approval
For this article no German ABE has been supplied to us, nor any other approval paperwork, and the pads are offered accordingly for the circuit and for competition.
