DescriptionThe whole story▼
By the time the Hyperstrada wore the 939 badge the idea had settled: a Hypermotard with a screen, a kinder seat and somewhere to put luggage. Rides home in the evening tend to be the honest test of a front brake, with a cool surface, damp patches under the trees and a headlight that flattens out the texture of the road. Accossato's AGPA177 front pad in the Sintered (ST) compound is meant for that sort of use on the Hyperstrada 939 built between 2016 and 2018.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati Hyperstrada 939, model years 2016 to 2018
- AGPA177 shape in the Sintered (ST) compound, article number AGPA177ST
- Accossato describes grip that holds its level cold, hot and in the wet
- Two pads per box; the bike has two front calipers
- Long-wearing material for a bike used through the year
- AGPA42 covers the rear wheel of the Hyperstrada 939
- DK053 and DKS053 are the discs listed for this machine
- No German ABE held; offered for circuit and competition riding
Construction and Material Quality
The sintered version of the AGPA177 is described by Accossato in terms of constancy: a high level of grip held at low and high temperature alike, and undisturbed by water sitting on the disc. On a bike ridden in the dark and the damp it is the second half of that sentence you actually feel. Material of this type also lasts well, which suits a Hyperstrada 939 that gets used rather than polished. Every version of this pad shares one outline, so the caliper notices nothing; the letters at the end of the number do the work. Two pads per box.
The Ride Home After Dark
Night riding takes away most of the clues. The change from dry tarmac to damp is invisible, gravel washed out of a field entrance appears late, and the temperature falls far enough that tyres and pads both need longer to come good. The habits that help are unglamorous: slow earlier than daylight would require, make the first application light so the discs are wiped and the tyre gets warning, and keep the pace inside the reach of the headlight rather than the reach of the brakes. A material that does not change its mind when the disc is cold or wet removes one unknown from an evening that usually has several.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA177 at the front of the Ducati Hyperstrada 939 for model years 2016 to 2018. The bike carries two front calipers and a box serves one of them, so a full change means two. The AGPA42 is the rear pad for the same years, and the DK053 and DKS053 discs appear in the catalogue for this machine. EV1, EV2 and ZXC versions of the front pad are there for owners whose riding takes them onto circuits.
Road Approval
Approval documents for this pad have not been supplied to us, neither a German ABE nor anything comparable. We list it accordingly, as a part for circuits and competition.
Scope of Delivery
One box of two Accossato AGPA177 pads in the Sintered (ST) compound, the set for one of the two front calipers of the Hyperstrada 939.
