DescriptionThe whole story▼
Under one badge Ducati sells several different motorcycles. The Scrambler 800 name covers the plain 803, the low-barred Cafe Racer and the long-travel Desert Sled, and every one of them hangs a single disc on the front wheel for one caliper to squeeze. Accossato presses its AGPA177 front pad in the Sintered material, catalogues it as article AGPA177ST, and describes the compound as holding a high and even level of grip whether the disc is cold or hot, wet faces included. The entry opens in 2017 and runs through to 2026.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Ducati Scrambler 800, 2017 to 2026
- Article AGPA177ST: the AGPA177 shape carrying the Sintered friction material
- Accossato reports an even grip level from a cold disc and from a hot one
- Rain is treated as ordinary service rather than as an exception
- Listed for the 803, the Cafe Racer to 2020 and the Desert Sled to 2023
- One disc at the front of this family, so a single box feeds the caliper
- The same shape is pressed in EV1, EV2 and ZXC as well
- No German ABE on file, so the pads are sold for competition
Construction and Material Quality
What the factory promises here is a flat line rather than a tall spike. Grip waiting at the lever outside a cold garage is meant to be the grip still present at the bottom of a long descent, and a film of water across the disc should not rewrite that answer. Underneath the friction layer sits the standard AGPA177 plate, common to every suffix of the article, so a rider who picks Sintered is choosing a surface and leaving the fitting untouched. Accossato builds its pad programme around slow wear and a long working life, and on a Scrambler 800 that stands outdoors between rides, that half of the claim is worth as much as any single impressive stop.
Three Bodies, One Front Caliper
The three machines under the badge ask for the same thing in different accents. A Cafe Racer rider tucks behind the bars and arrives at a village rather too quickly. A Desert Sled rider comes down a loose farm track with the front wheel doing most of the work. The standard 803 spends its week on errands and cold junctions. One caliper answers all three, and the answer needs to be the same each time it is asked.
Fitting is a short job if it is done properly. Work the pistons out, clean them, then push them back without forcing anything, because grit on a piston face will spoil a fresh set quicker than hard use ever does. Look into the reservoir while it is open and study the disc for scoring before new material goes near it. Keep chain lubricant off the faces, and pump the lever until it is firm before the Scrambler 800 comes off the stand.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's sheet dates the front fit from 2017 to 2026 for the 803, and inside that span it carries the Cafe Racer only as far as 2020 and the Desert Sled only as far as 2023, which is when those two body styles left the range. The back wheel of the same machine takes the AGPP91, whose entry closes in 2025, so the two ends of the bike do not share identical year spans and each deserves its own check. Two disc references belong to the model as well, the DK008 and the DKS074. Pad shapes wander between models in this catalogue, which makes the article number the safer thing to order by.
Road Approval
Neither an ABE nor a German test report for the AGPA177ST has reached our files. The pads are therefore listed for racing and closed-course use rather than for the public highway.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two AGPA177 pads in the Sintered material, the set a single caliper needs. With one disc at the front of the Scrambler 800, that box completes the axle.
