How to measure your helmet size correctly: To find the right helmet size, measure your head circumference with a flexible tape measure.
It is important that the tape measure runs around the widest part of the head – only then will you get a correct result.
Place the tape measure at the front, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and run it along the sides above the ears.
At the back, the tape must run over the largest part of the back of the head (not too low on the neck). The tape may run slightly at an angle – what matters is that it sits all the way around the largest points of the head.
Make sure the tape measure sits snugly but does not dig in. Measure 2–3 times for the most accurate result. You can then compare the measured value in centimetres (cm) with our size chart.
Tips for an accurate result
- Keep hair flat (e.g. do not measure over a voluminous hairstyle)
- Keep the tape horizontal, i.e. along the largest circumference
- Do not measure too loosely
- For values between two sizes:
→ usually choose the larger size (depending on helmet model / fit)
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without causing uncomfortable pressure points.
A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

When lap times are measured in tenths, your helmet needs to work as hard as you do. The Shark Aeron Mekarium DBS is a full-face carbon racing helmet built without compromise — combining a featherweight carbon-aramid shell with ECE 22.06 certification, tear-off-ready visor system, and an aerodynamic silhouette engineered to cut through air cleanly at any speed.
Key Features
- Carbon and aramid fibre shell delivers exceptional impact resistance with minimal mass, keeping your neck fresh lap after lap
- ECE 22.06 certified for both road and circuit use — meets the latest European safety standard
- Four EPS density zones for precise, graduated impact absorption across different impact energies
- Two shell sizes maintain correct proportions across the full size range, avoiding the oversized look common to single-shell designs
- Tear-off ready anti-fog, anti-scratch visor with a locking mechanism that resists wind pressure and vibration at high speed
- Double-D retention ring — the benchmark fastener for circuit use, trusted by riders who demand nothing less
Built for the Circuit, Refined for the Road
The Aeron's carbon-aramid construction is the starting point, not the selling point. Shark have engineered two shell sizes into the Aeron range so that every head circumference receives a correctly proportioned lid — a detail that separates serious racing helmets from the rest. Four EPS liner densities mean energy is managed progressively, whether the impact is at slow corner speeds or a high-side at the far end of a straight.
The visor locking system is particularly relevant on track. At motorway or circuit speeds, a visor that creeps open becomes a distraction and a safety concern. The Aeron's compact latch mechanism holds the screen firmly in place, and the tear-off posts mean you can strip away grime mid-session without losing a moment of concentration.
Ventilation and Comfort Over Distance
Racing rarely means short stints. The Aeron's ventilation architecture features five air inlets and seven exhaust ports, creating a through-flow that keeps internal temperature manageable even in the heat of competition. Morpho-Pads inside the liner adapt to your individual head shape, eliminating pressure points during extended sessions. The antimicrobial inner lining stays hygienic across race weekends and back-to-back days on track, and the full liner is removable for washing between events. An emergency quick-release system allows first responders to remove the helmet safely without moving the rider's neck — a considered safety detail that carries real weight.
Aerodynamics and Mekarium Design
The Mekarium DBS graphic in silver and blue is not simply a visual statement — the Aeron's shell profile and integrated rear spoiler are aerodynamically tuned to reduce drag and buffeting at speed. At elevated velocities the helmet feels planted and stable, reducing rider fatigue during long circuit stints or fast road riding. The sporty, compact silhouette betrays the Aeron's racing DNA from every angle.

The Shark Aeron Mekarium DBS is a universal full-face helmet with no vehicle-specific fitment requirement. It is available in sizes XS through XXL. Use the head circumference guide below to select your correct size, measuring approximately 1 cm above the ears at the widest point of your head.
