How to measure your helmet size correctly: To find the right helmet size, measure your head circumference with a flexible tape measure.
It is important that the tape measure runs around the widest part of the head – only then will you get a correct result.
Place the tape measure at the front, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and run it along the sides above the ears.
At the back, the tape must run over the largest part of the back of the head (not too low on the neck). The tape may run slightly at an angle – what matters is that it sits all the way around the largest points of the head.
Make sure the tape measure sits snugly but does not dig in. Measure 2–3 times for the most accurate result. You can then compare the measured value in centimetres (cm) with our size chart.
Tips for an accurate result
- Keep hair flat (e.g. do not measure over a voluminous hairstyle)
- Keep the tape horizontal, i.e. along the largest circumference
- Do not measure too loosely
- For values between two sizes:
→ usually choose the larger size (depending on helmet model / fit)
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without causing uncomfortable pressure points.
A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

The Shark Aeron RS Mekarium DRS is the full-face helmet that makes race-derived engineering genuinely accessible for daily riding. Built around a carbon and aramid fibre shell, it delivers the kind of lightweight protection you would expect from the track — without sacrificing the comfort or practicality that commuting and touring demand.
Key Features
- Carbon and aramid fibre shell construction — exceptional rigidity with a minimal weight penalty over long days in the saddle
- ECE 22.06 certified — meets the most current European safety standard for road and track use
- Available in 4 EPS liner sizes across 2 shell sizes — a precise, well-fitted helmet rather than a one-shell-fits-all compromise
- Anti-fog and anti-scratch visor with tear-off preparation — clear vision in all weathers, with circuit-ready convenience built in from the factory
- 5 intake vents and 7 exhaust vents — a ventilation circuit that keeps air moving during town traffic and motorway cruising alike
- Glasses-friendly interior design — no fumbling or pressure points if you wear spectacles every day
- Emergency quick-release system — reassurance for both rider and first responders
Shell and Protection
Shark has built the Aeron RS around a full carbon and aramid fibre structure. This combination produces a shell that resists deformation under impact while staying light enough that neck fatigue is not a concern on longer journeys. The two shell sizes mean the helmet is properly proportioned across the full size run — XS through XXL — rather than relying on padding to compensate for a poorly fitting shell.
ECE 22.06 certification confirms the Aeron RS has passed the latest round of European approval testing, covering both impact absorption and visor retention. A double-D ring retention system meets race regulations and provides the secure, consistent fit that riders who spend serious time on the road come to rely on.
Visor and Visibility
The visor carries anti-fog and anti-scratch treatments as standard — practical details that matter every morning when the temperature drops. Tear-off posts are already in place, so those who attend track days do not need to hunt for an aftermarket solution. The compact locking mechanism prevents the visor from cracking open at motorway speed, which is a small but meaningful comfort over distance.
Interior Comfort
Inside, Morpho-Pads — three-dimensional liners that adapt to individual head shapes — work alongside removable cheek and ear pads to produce a fit that genuinely improves over the first few hours of use. The antimicrobial, breathable liner is fully removable for washing, which matters more than it might seem after a summer tour. The glasses-friendly cut keeps frame pressure to a minimum, and the emergency quick-release cheek pad system allows first responders to remove the helmet safely should the need arise.
Ventilation is handled by five intake ports and seven exhaust outlets. In practice this means noticeable airflow during spirited road riding and enough circulation at lower speeds to avoid the stuffiness that plagues lesser helmets in urban traffic.
Design and Aerodynamics
The Mekarium DRS graphic presents the Aeron RS in a striking red and silver livery that reflects its motorsport origins without feeling out of place on a road bike. The integrated rear spoiler is not purely decorative — its aerodynamic profile reduces lift and stabilises the helmet at higher speeds, which translates to less buffeting and a more relaxed riding position on fast A-roads and motorways. This is a 2025–2026 collection piece, so the design language is current and the materials spec reflects the latest Shark development cycle.
Size Guide
| Size | Head circumference |
|---|---|
| XS | 53–54 cm |
| S | 55–56 cm |
| M | 57–58 cm |
| L | 59–60 cm |
| XL | 61–62 cm |
| XXL | 63–64 cm |
Measure your head approximately 1 cm above your ears at the widest point to find your correct size. If you are between sizes, try both and choose the snugger fit — the liner will bed in over time.
