Urbangram is the graphic family built around typography and grid work rather than swooping shapes, and the black version is its most restrained. It reads as a pattern up close and as a plain helmet from a distance.

The SHARP rating this helmet does not have

🔵 If you have searched for a safety rating for this helmet you may have found one. It belongs to the Nexx Y100, a separate model, not to the Y.100R — and the two are separate helmets with separate shells.

SHARP has no entry for the Y.100R. Neither does the ADAC, and there is no Snell certification.

About the Urbangram Black graphic

Graphic helmets usually announce themselves; this one does not, which is the point. Urbangram uses fine repeating elements rather than large blocked areas, so at any distance beyond a few metres the eye reads a single dark shell — and only close up does it resolve into a design. On a helmet ridden daily rather than posed with, that restraint tends to wear better than a bold livery. The dark ground also hides road film and insect strike far better than a pale one. 🔵 Conspicuity is correspondingly low: in city traffic, one of the white or grey versions in this range does noticeably more for you.

Polyfusion, two shells and dual-EPS

🔵 What thermoplastic means in practice. It is injection-moulded rather than laid up by hand, which makes it cheaper to produce and heavier than a composite of equal strength — and it is why this helmet costs 215 € and weighs what it does.

It also means very consistent shell-to-shell quality, because the process is machine-controlled rather than manual. Two outer shell sizes cover XS to XXL.

X-SWIFT — a visor change in under eight seconds

🔵 Eight seconds is a real number rather than a marketing one, and it changes behaviour: riders who need a screwdriver to change a visor never change it, while riders who can do it at a fuel stop actually carry the second one.

Nexx supplies that second visor in the box, so the system has something to swap to from day one.

The sun visor and its glove-friendly button

🔵 The glove-friendly external control is worth more than the sun visor itself. An internal shield operated by a small recessed slider is a shield you will not deploy at 100 km/h; one on an external button on the shell you will.

The shield filters 99 % of ultraviolet.

Double-blade spoiler and how quiet it measures

🔵 „Impressive for the price" is the reviewer's own phrasing, and it is the right framing. At around 100 dB and a 4/5 noise score, the Y.100R measures alongside helmets costing considerably more.

The wind-tunnel-derived profile and the double-blade spoiler are what produce that.

Two intakes, and a zero-degree measurement

🔵 The number worth quoting: a 0 °C difference between the inside of the helmet and the ambient air, measured on the road. That is the best possible outcome — it means the shell is not building heat — and it earned a 4/5 ventilation score.

Two intakes and two exhausts is a modest specification producing a good result.

Interior, retention and fit

🔵 The fit is intermediate-to-round oval, which is rounder than most premium helmets and suits riders that long-oval shells pinch at the forehead. The reviewer who tested it said it fitted perfectly; comfort scored 3/5.

The interior is X-Mart Dry, anti-allergic and anti-bacterial, and fully removable.

Around 1.6 kilograms, and the rest of the honest list

🔵 The honest list in one place. This is a thermoplastic helmet: heavier than a composite, cheaper than one, and identically approved. Claimed weight 1575 g ±50; independently weighed at 1617 g in size M.

No SHARP rating exists for the Y.100R. Comfort scored 3/5; noise and ventilation both 4/5.

Where it sits in Nexx's range

Against the X.WST3, the differences are shell material, shell count and weight — composite versus thermoplastic, three outer shells versus two, and around 60 g. Both have an internal sun visor, both take X-COM3, both hold the same four approvals.

🔵 The price gap is considerably larger than the specification gap.

Comms, camera and spare parts

🔵 „Integrated" here means cable slots, a battery recess and a microphone position built into the shell rather than a unit clamped to the edge. On a helmet at this price that provision is unusual.

X-COM3 comes in Standard and PRO forms; the PRO adds 2.0 Mesh and Harman Kardon audio. Bluetooth 5 in both.
