Matt indigo with the Nippon graphic is the most considered-looking finish Nexx offers on this helmet, and it is the one that most obviously does not look like a 215-euro lid.

Names matter in this database. „Nexx Y100" has five SHARP stars and is not this helmet. „Nexx Y.100R" is this helmet and has no SHARP entry of its own.

About the Nippon Indigo Blue finish

Deep colour under a flat finish is expensive-looking because it is genuinely harder to produce well — matt clear coat over a saturated base tends to go chalky, and indigo is dark enough to avoid that. Set against the Nippon graphic, the result is a helmet that reads as a single deep object and resolves into a design close up. Practically it is among the better finishes here for daily use: matt absorbs handling marks, and a mid-dark blue hides road film better than black. 🔵 Matt is washed rather than polished, and dry dust shows more readily on it than on gloss. Conspicuity sits between the blacks and the pale versions.

Polyfusion, two shells and dual-EPS

The shell is the least glamorous part of this helmet and the part that decides the price. Polyfusion thermoplastic, injection-moulded, in two outer sizes, over a dual-EPS liner.

🔵 It carries the same ECE 22-06 approval as a carbon helmet costing three times as much. What it does not carry is the weight advantage.

X-SWIFT — a visor change in under eight seconds

Fogging is decided at low speed — junctions, traffic, waiting — where there is no airflow to clear a visor. The supplied Pinlock 70 MaxVision lens is the answer, and it covers the full aperture width rather than stopping short of it.

The sun visor and its glove-friendly button

Two things make an internal sun visor usable rather than decorative: how far it drops, and how easily you can deploy it. The Y.100R's covers the working field of view and operates from an external, glove-friendly button on the shell.

🔵 It filters 99 % of ultraviolet, which is the specification that matters on long summer rides.

Double-blade spoiler and how quiet it measures

Independent testing scored noise 4/5 and ventilation 4/5, with comfort at 3/5. The reviewer described the helmet as fitting perfectly and the noise figure as impressive for the money.

Two intakes, and a zero-degree measurement

The complete ventilation specification is short: two intakes, two exhausts, working with the dual-EPS structure to move air around the head at speed.

Interior, retention and fit

Everything that touches skin comes out: cheek pads with their Emergency-Strap pulls, crown pad, thick neck roll and chin-strap covers. All of it is X-Mart Dry, anti-allergic and anti-bacterial.

Around 1.6 kilograms, and the rest of the honest list

Weight is the one specification this helmet loses on, and it loses on it for a structural reason rather than a careless one: a thermoplastic shell needs more material than a composite to reach the same strength.

Where it sits in Nexx's range

At 175–215 € this is the least expensive full-face Nexx makes, and the specification does not read like it. Four market approvals, two visors, a Pinlock lens, an internal sun visor, X-COM3 provision and independently measured 4/5 results for both noise and ventilation.

🔵 The compromises are weight, two shell sizes rather than three, and a thermoplastic shell.
