Matt black with pink is the least conventional Subsonic and one of the few genuinely bright non-primary options at this price. The angular graphic keeps it from reading as decorative.

Independent testing of the Y.100R comes from a scored road test rather than a laboratory: noise 4/5 at around 100 dB, ventilation 4/5 on a measured zero-degree interior delta, comfort 3/5, and a fit the reviewer described as perfect for their head.

About the Subsonic Black Pink graphic

Pink on a helmet is usually applied as a soft accent; here it is used at full saturation against a matt black ground, which produces a much harder-edged result. That combination is unusual enough to be worth pointing out: it is a bright colour deployed the way a sport graphic normally deploys red. Practically, the high-saturation element gives this version better conspicuity in flat light than the black-and-gold, while the matt black ground still hides road film across most of the shell. 🔵 Bright pigments fade faster than dark ones under sustained UV, and matt finishes are washed rather than polished.

Polyfusion, two shells and dual-EPS

Two outer shell sizes cover XS to XXL: XS–M in the smaller, L–XXL in the larger. That is what keeps the small sizes from looking oversized, which a single-shell helmet never manages.

The material is Polyfusion thermoplastic, wind-tunnel shaped, over a dual-EPS liner and certified to ECE 22-06, DOT, CCC and NBR.

X-SWIFT — a visor change in under eight seconds

The visor range for this helmet covers the conditions rather than the fashions: clear as standard, yellow HD for contrast in flat light, silver iridium for glare. All of them change over through X-SWIFT in under eight seconds.

The sun visor and its glove-friendly button

🔵 If you wear prescription glasses, a drop-down sun shield is considerably more practical than prescription sunglasses or a tinted visor — it goes up and down without removing anything.

The Y.100R's filters 99 % of UV and is operated by an external button you can work in gloves.

Double-blade spoiler and how quiet it measures

🔵 A quiet helmet is usually a badly ventilated one, because the same openings do both jobs. The Y.100R scored 4/5 for noise and 4/5 for ventilation in the same test, which is an unusual combination at this price.

The double-blade spoiler and the wind-tunnel profile are the reason for the first.

Two intakes, and a zero-degree measurement

The dual-EPS structure is doing double duty here. Two liner densities distribute impact energy; the channels between and through them give incoming air somewhere to travel rather than being absorbed immediately by the padding.

Interior, retention and fit

🔵 Why emergency cheek-pad release matters. The cheek pads are what hold a helmet on your head once the strap is undone, which is why they have to come out before a full-face can be removed from an injured rider safely.

Helmets are consumables with a long life rather than permanent objects. Nexx, like every manufacturer, recommends replacement after around five years of use regardless of condition — and immediately after any real impact, because the EPS crushes once and does not recover.
