Zero Pro is the X.RALLY reduced to its shell: full exposed weave, no graphic, no paint. It sits above the plain carbon versions in price for one reason, which is that a finish with nothing on it has to be flawless underneath.

Three modes in one shell

If you are choosing between this and a dedicated road helmet plus a dedicated motocross helmet, the honest comparison is cost against compromise. Two specialist helmets do their jobs better; one X.RALLY does all three jobs adequately and costs less than both.

About the Zero Pro Carbon finish

A painted shell can hide small cosmetic imperfections in the layup; an exposed-weave one cannot, which is why bare-carbon versions of any helmet cost more than painted ones built on the same shell. What you are paying for is the quality of the surface, not extra material. The consequence is that this is also the least repairable finish in the range — a deep scratch into the weave is permanent, and there is no touching it in. 🔵 It is also, with the black carbon version, the least conspicuous helmet here. Carbon reads as very dark grey in every light condition that matters.

The X-PRO Carbon shell and the X-Foam bumpers

Carbon costs more for two reasons and only one of them is material. The layup is more labour-intensive, and the surface has to be good enough to show — which is why exposed-weave versions sit above painted ones built on the identical shell.

This is the X-PRO Carbon construction, 1350 g claimed, with X-Foam EPP bumpers over the lower shell.

The Recoil visor, and the two shields in the box

Nexx supplies the anti-fog lens fitted rather than in the box, which sounds like a detail and is not — a Pinlock lens installed at the factory sits on correctly tensioned pins, and a badly seated one distorts and leaks air at the edges.

🔵 When it eventually clouds, order the Pinlock 200 XLT MaxVision for this helmet rather than a generic insert.

Nine intakes — and two tests that disagree about them

Nexx calls the layout aerothermic, and the pieces are real: nine intakes, six exhausts, ventilation through the cheek pads, a mid air chamber and the Air Cumbs cooling chamber. A separate winter chin vent covers the cold end.

🔵 What the independent record does not settle is how much cooling that produces — one test measured little, another praised it. Neither has been repeated.

How loud it actually is

The peak is removable specifically because Nexx knew what it costs at speed. Taking it off for a long transfer is the intended use of On-Road mode, not a workaround.

🔵 With the peak fitted, the helmet measured 103 dB and scored 3 out of 5 for wind noise in an independent test.

Interior, hydration routing and fit

Three outer shell sizes across eight helmet sizes is generous, and it is what keeps the smallest sizes from looking and feeling oversized. XXS–S, M–L and XL–XXXL each get their own shell.

Inside every one: 3D-mesh liner, X-HIDRO cheek pads, Pearaluman double-D ring with X-LOCK, and removable chin-strap covers.

1350 grams claimed, 1553 measured

Three shell sizes across XXS to XXXL means the weight you actually receive depends heavily on your size — an XXXL in the largest shell carries considerably more material than an XXS in the smallest.

🔵 Nexx quotes 1350 g without stating the size. The one independent measurement available, on a size M, returned 1553 g.

Where it sits — and who should buy something else

Against the X.WED3, the deciding question is the aperture. The X.RALLY's is sized for motocross goggles and the X.WED3's is not; that single difference determines how each helmet behaves off-road and how loud each is on it.

🔵 If you never ride in goggles, the X.WED3 is the more comfortable road helmet of the two.

Intercom, camera mounts and spare parts

🔵 If you plan to run a camera, buy the mount kit at the same time as the helmet. Chin-mount positions are model-specific, and retrofitting an adhesive mount to a shell designed for a bolt-in one is both uglier and less secure.

Intercom provision is separate and universal: ear recesses plus a mount slot.
