DescriptionThe whole story▼
The white PRO Carbon is the combination most riders in hot countries end up wanting: the lighter shell, and the finish that keeps the inside of it coolest. On a helmet with a measured ventilation weakness, that pairing is more than cosmetic.
Three modes in one shell
If you ride to the trail rather than trailering to it, the mode system is the feature you will use every weekend: On-Road for the ride out, Off-Road when the surface changes, back again for the ride home.
🔵 The peak comes off without tools; keep the fasteners somewhere you will find them.
| Mode | Peak | Eye protection | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dual-Sport | fitted | Recoil visor | mixed days, low sun, spray |
| Off-Road | fitted | goggles (not supplied) | trail and enduro, maximum airflow |
| On-Road | removed | Recoil visor | motorway transfers — the quietest setting |
About the PRO Carbon White finish
The thermal argument for a pale shell is strongest exactly where this helmet's ventilation is weakest — low speed, high ambient temperature, no airflow. A white helmet reflects solar energy that a dark one converts directly into interior heat, and independent testing put the X.RALLY's measured cooling at the modest end of the scale. That makes the finish a functional choice rather than a styling one. It is also the most conspicuous of the plain carbon options by a wide margin. 🔵 White shows trail spray, insects and road film sooner than anything except the neon versions.
The X-PRO Carbon shell and the X-Foam bumpers
X-PRO Carbon is what the price difference in this range buys. Same approvals, same modes, same visor system, same X-Foam bumpers — a lighter shell and, on the exposed-weave versions, a finish you can see.
🔵 Nexx claims 1350 g. Independent weighing found more; that is dealt with honestly further down this page.
| Shell | Construction | Weight (Nexx) | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | six-layer fibreglass composite | 1475 g | Plain, YUMA |
| X-PRO Carbon | carbon fibre | 1350 g (1553 g measured, size M) | PRO Carbon, Raid, Gravix, Zero Pro, Namib, FIM Racing #2 |
The Recoil visor, and the two shields in the box
Look after the visor and it will outlast the padding. Never wipe a dry visor — trail dust is far more abrasive than road film, and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent fine scratches that flare against oncoming headlights at night.
Wet it first, every time. Both supplied visors run on the same tool-free Recoil base plates.
Nine intakes — and two tests that disagree about them
Nine intakes, six exhausts, a mid air chamber, cheek-pad ventilation, an Air Cumbs cooling chamber and a winter chin vent. That is the specification, and it is more comprehensive than most adventure helmets offer.
🔵 It is also the specification that independent testing questioned most: one road test measured a 3 °C interior delta and scored cooling 2/5, while another described the airflow as open-face-like. We report both.
How loud it actually is
103 dB is a measured number rather than an impression, which makes it the most useful thing on this page for comparing against another helmet you are considering — provided that helmet was measured the same way.
🔵 The accompanying score was 3 out of 5. For a helmet with a peak and nine intakes, that is a fair result rather than a poor one.
Interior, hydration routing and fit
The head shape is intermediate-to-long oval, which is the most common European shape and the reason the X.RALLY fits a wide range of riders without adjustment. Where it does not, the liner and cheek pads are removable and replaceable.
🔵 Sizing was found true to size in independent testing, across three outer shell sizes from XXS to XXXL.
1350 grams claimed, 1553 measured
🔵 Read the weight claim carefully. 1350 g is Nexx's figure for this shell. 1553 g is what an independent reviewer measured on a size M X-PRO Carbon example.
A 200 g discrepancy is large enough to change how the helmet feels at the end of a long day, and large enough that we would rather print it than repeat the brochure.
Where it sits — and who should buy something else
Adventure is the most cross-shopped helmet category there is, and the honest advice is to be precise about your own riding rather than aspirational about it. Most adventure bikes spend most of their lives on tarmac.
🔵 If yours does, this helmet's measured 103 dB and contested ventilation matter more than its off-road credentials.
Intercom, camera mounts and spare parts
An adventure helmet is a repairable object and that matters when you are a long way from a dealer. Peak, visor, photochromic shield, Pinlock lens, cheek pads, liner and chin-strap covers are all separate parts on the X.RALLY.
🔵 Carry a spare visor rather than a spare helmet; it is the part that fails a trip.
