Three colours on one shell is unusual and this is the busiest graphic in the range — white, light blue and red worked together across the carbon shell. It is the version that reads most clearly from the side of a track.

Three modes in one shell

🔵 One practical note about Off-Road mode. With the visor removed, nothing protects your face from stones except the goggles and the chin bar — and goggle choice matters as much on this helmet as visor choice does on a road one. The aperture is generous; frames still differ.

Dual-Sport and On-Road modes both run the Recoil visor instead.

About the Raid Blue Red graphic

A three-value graphic has a practical advantage that a two-value one does not: at distance, in poor light or through dust, at least one of the three will always be separating from the background. That is why rally teams have used tricolour schemes for decades — it is legibility engineering rather than decoration. The cost is that busier graphics date faster than plain ones and are harder to match if you later want a replacement peak in the same finish. 🔵 Order spares against the full designation; the Raid family runs in several colourways and the parts catalogue distinguishes them by code.

The X-PRO Carbon shell and the X-Foam bumpers

Carbon fibre is stiffer per gram than fibreglass, which lets Nexx put the same structural performance into less material — a claimed 1350 g for the X-PRO Carbon shell against 1475 g for X-Matrix2.

🔵 Stiffer is not automatically better; it changes how energy is distributed rather than how much is absorbed. The EPS liner and the X-Foam bumpers do the absorbing.

The Recoil visor, and the two shields in the box

Two shields, one mechanism. The clear Recoil visor arrives with a Pinlock 200 XLT MaxVision lens fitted; the photochromic shield alongside it darkens with ultraviolet and clears again when the light drops.

Between them they cover almost every condition without a drop-down sun visor — which this helmet does not have.

Nine intakes — and two tests that disagree about them

The winter chin vent is the detail that makes this a year-round helmet in northern Europe. It adapts the air path behind a closed visor for cold conditions, where most adventure helmets simply deliver summer airflow you cannot switch off.

🔵 The warm-weather performance is where the sources split: 2/5 measured against an open-face comparison in a separate hands-on test.

How loud it actually is

The noise you notice on an adventure helmet is mostly turbulence rather than airflow, and turbulence is generated by edges — the peak's trailing edge above all. That is why removing it changes the character of the sound and not just the volume.

Interior, hydration routing and fit

Night-vision reflectors are moulded into the shell rather than applied as stickers, which means they will still be there in five years. On a helmet ridden on unlit roads in unfamiliar places, that is a functional detail rather than a decorative one.

Where it sits — and who should buy something else

🔵 A note on price tiers within this model. The Plain versions at the bottom and the FIM Racing at the top are the same helmet apart from the shell and, in the FIM's case, a second homologation. The intermediate tiers buy graphics rather than capability.

That is unusually transparent for a helmet range and worth knowing before you spend.

Intercom, camera mounts and spare parts

🔵 A word on visor care, because it prevents most of the visor sales we make. Never wipe a dry visor — trail dust is far more abrasive than road film, and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent scratches that flare against headlights.

Replacement clear visors, photochromic shields and Pinlock 200 XLT MaxVision lenses are all stocked.
