DescriptionThe whole story▼
Matt black is the version that lets the shell's own structure show — the three intakes, the integrated rear spoiler and the aperture line read as geometry rather than as reflections.
Entry sport-touring — and what that means
🔵 „Sport-touring" at 115 € means the feature list rather than the performance: a sun visor, tool-free visor changes, three intakes, an integrated spoiler and intercom preparation. It does not mean a touring helmet's quiet or a sports helmet's weight.
Dual ECE 22.06 / DOT homologation is the part that is not a compromise.
About the matt black finish
The Braker SV carries more visible structure than its price suggests: an integrated spoiler with an exhaust built into it, three separate intakes and a defined chin bar. Gloss draws a highlight across all of that; matt shows the outline instead, which on an angular shell is arguably the better reading. Practically, a flat finish absorbs the handling a commuting helmet gets — carried by the chin bar, stored in a top box, set down on desks. 🔵 The trade is conspicuity, and matt holds dry dust more visibly than gloss. It is washed rather than polished.
HIRP, ECE 22.06 and DOT
🔵 What a thermoplastic shell means in practice: it is injection-moulded rather than laid up by hand, which makes it cheaper to produce and heavier than a composite of equal strength. It also makes it very consistent, because the process is machine-controlled.
Weight is around 1525 g — the honest cost of the price.
The single-action sun visor
🔵 A drop-down sun visor is the single most useful convenience feature on a road helmet, and it is what the „SV" in the model name stands for across MT's range.
The Braker SV's deploys and retracts with one movement of the slider.
MT-QVSS, and the anti-fog insert you buy separately
🔵 Two anti-fog systems fit this visor and that is unusual: the familiar Pinlock DKS435 and MT's own FogOff FOG010. Neither is in the box.
Pinlock is the better-known and more widely stocked; FogOff is generally cheaper. Both do the same job, and one of them is worth buying before winter.
Three intakes and a spoiler that vents
🔵 An exhaust built into the spoiler is a sensible piece of packaging: the spoiler already sits in the low-pressure region behind the helmet, which is exactly where an outlet works best.
Three intakes feed it. Whether the combination delivers has not been independently measured.
The MT-Micrometric+ closure
🔵 A micrometric ratchet is the right choice on a commuting helmet fastened twice a day: it is quick, adjustable in fine steps, and workable in winter gloves — which a double-D ring genuinely is not.
MT's MT-Micrometric+ is the version fitted here.
Interior, fit and the nose deflector
🔵 The nose deflector redirects exhaled air downwards rather than up the inside of the visor, which is what stops the visor misting at a standstill. It is supplied with the helmet and it is the cheapest fogging control you have.
It is not a substitute for an anti-fog insert, which is sold separately.
Universal UCS intercom mount
🔵 Check speaker depth before buying any intercom, not just diameter. A speaker that is too deep presses on the ear even in a recess, and at this price the padding has less spare depth to give than on a premium helmet.
The Braker SV's mount is universal and takes standard units.
Where it sits in MT's range
🔵 The clearest comparison in MT's full-face range. Stinger 2 85 € — no sun visor, no DOT. Braker SV 115 € — sun visor, DOT, spoiler. Thunder 4 R SV 157 € — all of that plus a Pinlock lens in the box and slightly less weight.
All three are HIRP shells homologated to ECE 22.06.
When something wears out
🔵 The anti-fog insert is the first accessory most owners buy, because it is not supplied and a winter commute mists the visor at every stop. Two options fit: Pinlock DKS435 or FogOff FOG010.
Both are consumables — the seal loses grip and the surface clouds after a few seasons.
In the box
- MT Braker SV helmet — Pure A1 (HIRP shell)
- Clear MT-V-28B visor, fitted
- Nose deflector
- 🔵 No anti-fog insert — the visor is ready for Pinlock DKS435 or FogOff FOG010; both are separate purchases
- 🔵 No intercom — the helmet has a universal UCS mount; the system is a separate purchase

Specification
- Model — MT-Helmets Braker SV
- Part number — 134600PA1203
- Colour — Pure A1 — Matt black
- Homologation — ECE 22.06 and DOT — road-legal across ECE markets and in the United States
- 🔴 Safety rating — none — SHARP has never listed the Braker SV; no ADAC or Snell result, and no independent road test has been published
- Helmet type — Full-face, entry sport-touring
- Shell — HIRP (High Impact Resistant Polymer)
- Weight — approx. 1525 g
- Sizes — XS to XXXL (seven sizes)
- Visor — MT-V-28B with MT-QVSS two-button tool-free quick release
- 🔴 Anti-fog — ready for Pinlock® DKS435 or FogOff FOG010 — neither insert is supplied
- Sun visor — single-action drop-down shield — one movement of the slider
- Ventilation — three air intakes and an integrated rear spoiler with an air exhaust. 🔴 No independent measurement of the airflow exists
- Retention — MT-Micrometric+ micrometric closure
- Interior — fully removable and washable
- Communication — universal UCS intercom mount — takes standard communicators; no system supplied
- Also supplied — nose deflector
- Impact liner — expanded polystyrene — crushes once and does not recover; replace the helmet after any real impact
- Serviceability — visor, anti-fog insert, sun shield, lining, cheek pads and nose deflector all available separately
- Made for — commuting, country roads and moderate distances — not a long-distance touring helmet
- Manufacturer — MT-Helmets (MT Helmets, Spain)
- Replacement guidance — after around five years of use regardless of condition, and immediately after any impact
- Worth budgeting — an anti-fog insert — Pinlock DKS435 or FogOff FOG010 — before the first cold month. Neither is supplied, and a winter commute mists the visor at every stop without one
- Compared with the Stinger 2 — that helmet costs 30 € less and has no sun visor, no DOT approval and no spoiler. Both use HIRP shells homologated to ECE 22.06 — the difference is equipment, not protection standard
- Compared with the Thunder 4 R SV — that helmet costs 42 € more and adds a Pinlock DKS435 insert in the box plus roughly 25 g less weight, on the same HIRP platform
- Care — wash the lining by hand a few times a season; never wipe the visor or the sun shield dry, as road dust scratches both permanently
- Sizing note — measure around the widest part of your head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and try the size the chart gives you. A helmet that can be rolled forward off your head with the strap fastened is too large

“MCN calls it a shrewd budget choice and the numbers agree: quiet at road speeds, decent airflow, a sun visor that locks properly and no rattles. At 115 € the only thing it really gives up is weight.”
