The matt black Inception is the quietest graphic in the range — the drawing is fully present at close range and the helmet reads as a plain matt black lid from across a street.

Entry sport-touring — and what that means

The most useful comparison is not against premium helmets but against other 115-euro ones. At this price a great many helmets have no sun visor, a visor fixed with screws and a single homologation.

About the Inception B7 graphic

Tonal graphics age far better than coloured ones because colours belong to seasons and values do not. A treatment carried entirely in blacks and greys reads as design rather than as a marker of when the helmet was bought — useful on a helmet likely to be kept until it is worn out rather than replaced for fashion. It is also the best version here at hiding road film, since every value on the shell is dark enough to absorb it. 🔵 Conspicuity is correspondingly low, on a helmet aimed at commuting and country roads.

HIRP, ECE 22.06 and DOT

🔵 Compare this against a composite helmet honestly. A fibreglass shell of equal strength would be 150–300 g lighter and cost two to three times as much. That is the entire argument, and it is legitimate in both directions.

The Braker SV is HIRP at roughly 1525 g, with dual ECE 22.06 / DOT approval.

The single-action sun visor

The sun shield mechanism is the part of a helmet most likely to develop a rattle over years of use, and it is worth checking on any second-hand example. On a new one it should deploy and retract cleanly without play.

MT-QVSS, and the anti-fog insert you buy separately

🔵 Order visors and lenses by designation rather than by helmet name. This helmet uses the MT-V-28B visor and takes either the DKS435 Pinlock lens or the FOG010 FogOff insert.

Neither anti-fog system is supplied with the helmet.

Three intakes and a spoiler that vents

The nose deflector supplied with the helmet works alongside the ventilation rather than against it: it redirects exhaled air downwards instead of up the inside of the visor, which is what stops the visor misting at a standstill.

🔵 With no anti-fog insert supplied, that deflector does more work than it would on a helmet with one.

The MT-Micrometric+ closure

The MT-Micrometric+ closure fastens one-handed, which matters on a helmet taken on and off twice a day. It also releases one-handed, which is the part you appreciate at a fuel stop in the rain.

🔵 Check the adjustment periodically — ratchets drift, and a strap that has loosened lets the helmet move.

Interior, fit and the nose deflector

Measure around the widest part of your head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and compare against the chart on this page. The Braker SV runs from XS to XXXL.

Universal UCS intercom mount

„Intercom-ready" means different things on different helmets. Here it means a universal UCS mount that takes standard communicators rather than a system designed exclusively around MT's own.
