DescriptionThe whole story▼
This is the most visible X.TR in the range: fluorescent yellow on the carbon shell, worked against grey. On a touring helmet ridden long distances in mixed weather, that is a specification rather than a preference.
Two independent tests — and where they disagree
The X.TR's independent record is unusually detailed for a helmet without a safety rating: overall 3.8/5, ventilation 5/5 measured, comfort 4/5, fit 4/5, noise 3/5 at 103 dB.
🔵 Alongside it, a second hands-on test praising the noise and flagging heat retention. We print both because they answer different questions.
About the Rush Black Neon graphic
Touring means unfamiliar roads, tired drivers and long stretches in whatever light the day supplies — and fluorescent pigment is the only colour that keeps its advantage as that light degrades. It converts ultraviolet into visible light rather than merely reflecting it, which is why it holds up in overcast, at dusk and in rain where ordinary colours flatten out. Against a grey ground it stays legible without the helmet looking like workwear. 🔵 The trade is durability: fluorescent fades faster than any other pigment under sustained sun, and no care regime stops it entirely.
The X-PRO Carbon shell
🔵 What carbon does not do is make a helmet safer by itself. Approvals, EPS structure, visor system and every feature are identical between the two shells here. What it does is take off 125 g.
The construction is X-PRO Carbon, claimed at 1625 g, over the same two-part Anti-Vibration EPS.
| Shell | Construction | Weight (Nexx) | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite | 1750 g ±50 | Plain, Quanta |
| X-PRO Carbon | carbon fibre | 1625 g | Rush, Zero Pro, Atlantic |
X-Block N'Seal — a visor that locks
🔵 Order visors and lenses by designation rather than by helmet name. This helmet uses the Pinlock 120 XLT MaxVision lens, a higher-clarity grade than the 70 used elsewhere in Nexx's range, and the lenses do not interchange.
One is fitted from new; a second clear visor is supplied alongside it.
The ultra-wide sun visor
Keep the sun shield as clean as the outer visor. It is the surface closest to your eyes, easy to forget because it lives inside the shell, and a fingerprint on it is far more visible than one outside.
🔵 Clean it wet, never dry. It is ultra-wide and drops to just above the bridge of the nose.
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
🔵 If you have ridden a long motorway day you know the sensation this addresses: a fine shimmer through the helmet that is neither noise nor buffeting but leaves you tired at the end of it.
The X.TR damps it with a rubber layer between the inner and outer EPS.
Two intakes, two chambers — and a 5/5 measurement
Only two exhausts sounds thin next to a 5/5 result, and the explanation is the internal path: air moves through the gap between the EPS shells and through the crown chamber rather than relying on outlet area alone.
🔵 The measured interior delta was zero degrees.
Chin curtain, neck roll and how quiet it is
🔵 Do not compare decibel figures across publications. Method, speed, motorcycle and screen all change the number, and there is no standard for helmet noise measurement — which is precisely why two competent reviewers reached different conclusions about this helmet.
Measured: 103 dB at 130 km/h. Described separately as minimal.
Interior, retention and fit
🔵 Fit is the specification that matters most and the one no description settles for you. A loose helmet moves under braking and rotates in a crash; a tight one produces a headache at forty minutes.
Try it on and keep it on for ten minutes. Both independent tests found this helmet true to size.
1625 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 No independent safety rating exists for this helmet in either shell. SHARP has no X.TR entry; there is no ADAC or Snell result. Untested rather than poorly rated, but a gap in the evidence.
Measured: overall 3.8/5, ventilation 5/5, comfort 4/5, fit 4/5, noise 3/5 at 103 dB. Carbon shell: 1625 g.
Comms, camera and spare parts
The serviceable parts list on this helmet: both visors, Pinlock 120 XLT lenses, cheek pads, crown pad, chin-strap covers, the breath guard, the chin curtain and the internal sun visor.
🔵 Between them they cover everything except the shell and the two-part EPS — neither of which is replaceable after an impact.
