DescriptionThe whole story

The dark blue Rush is the quietest of the carbon graphics — the drawing fully present but carried in a single deep colour rather than announced across several. It is the version for riders who want the light shell without the livery.

Two independent tests — and where they disagree

Where both tests agree: the helmet fits true to size, the comfort is good out of the box, and the airflow at speed is genuinely effective. Where they disagree: how loud it is, and how it copes with heat at low speed.

🔵 That is a more useful summary than either verdict alone, and it is why both appear here.

About the Rush Blue Red graphic

Deep blue is the most practical ground colour on a touring helmet and it is consistently under-chosen. Insect strike and road film read as a grey haze against black and as an obvious film against white; against navy they largely disappear, which over a two-week trip means a helmet that still looks presentable rather than merely clean-ish. Blue also works across bike brands rather than tying the helmet to one, which matters on a helmet likely to outlast the motorcycle. 🔵 Conspicuity sits above the blacks and well below the neon versions — worth a thought on a helmet ridden into dusk regularly.

The X-PRO Carbon shell

🔵 Carbon buys 125 g here for around 135 €. On a touring helmet worn for six-hour days that is a more meaningful saving than it would be on a commuting lid — weight is felt at the end of a ride rather than the start.

The construction is X-PRO Carbon at 1625 g claimed, in three outer shell sizes.

Shell Construction Weight (Nexx) Decors
X-Matrix2 multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite 1750 g ±50 Plain, Quanta
X-PRO Carbon carbon fibre 1625 g Rush, Zero Pro, Atlantic

X-Block N'Seal — a visor that locks

Look after the visor and it will outlast the padding. Never wipe a dry visor — road dust is abrasive and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent fine scratches that flare against oncoming headlights at night.

🔵 Wet it first, every time. A second clear visor is supplied, which makes a scratched one an inconvenience rather than a problem.

The ultra-wide sun visor

The sun shield mechanism is the part of a helmet most likely to develop a rattle over years of use, and it is worth checking on any second-hand example. On a new one it should deploy and retract cleanly without play.

🔵 The X.TR's is ultra-wide and reaches to just above the bridge of the nose.

Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer

Comfort systems are usually padding; this one is structural, and it works regardless of which cheek pads you fit or how the vents are set. That durability is the argument for engineering comfort into the liner rather than the lining.

🔵 The target is the vibration that air turbulence transmits into the shell at touring speed.

Two intakes, two chambers — and a 5/5 measurement

🔵 In stationary traffic no helmet ventilates well, and this one is more affected than most because it is insulated for quiet. That is the substance behind the second reviewer's „stuffy in hot weather" note.

At road speed the measured result was the best in Nexx's range: zero-degree delta, 5/5.

Chin curtain, neck roll and how quiet it is

The rear spoiler is a genuine aerodynamic device rather than a styling cue: it manages the wake behind the shell, adds stability at touring speed and reduces the turbulence that becomes noise.

🔵 Measured result: 103 dB at 130 km/h, scored 3/5, against a second test describing the noise as minimal.

Interior, retention and fit

The head shape is intermediate oval — the most common European shape and the reason both reviewers found the fit true to size. If a helmet has ever pressed at your forehead, this is not the shell most likely to do it.

🔵 The interior is X-Mart Dry, fully removable and washable.

1625 grams, and the rest of the honest list

🔵 Carbon buys 125 g here for around 135 €. On a touring helmet worn for six-hour days that is a more meaningful saving than on a commuting lid, because weight is felt at the end of a ride rather than at the start.

Claimed weight for this shell: 1625 g.

Comms, camera and spare parts

Helmets are consumables with a long life rather than permanent objects. Nexx, like every manufacturer, recommends replacement after around five years of use regardless of condition — and immediately after any real impact, because the EPS crushes once and does not recover.

Between those points, everything you touch on this helmet is replaceable.

“Here is the thing worth knowing before you pay the carbon premium: measured in size M, the carbon X.TR came in at 1,700 g against the composite's 1,657 g. It is not lighter, and it has the same ventilation limits.”
