DescriptionThe whole story▼
Quanta is the graphic family on the fibreglass shell, and white with dark blue is its most legible reading — two values far enough apart to stay readable at motorway distance rather than dissolving into texture.
Two independent tests — and where they disagree
🔵 Read the two verdicts as describing different conditions rather than contradicting each other. At road speed the X.TR flows air well — measured, 5/5. Insulated for quiet with a large chin curtain and a neck roll, it holds heat when you stop.
Overall the scored test rated it 3.8/5; the second called it remarkably comfortable out of the box.
About the Quanta White Blue graphic
Graphics on a sport-touring helmet have a harder job than on a plain road one, because the shell is already busy with a spoiler and intake housings. Quanta works by using large blocked areas rather than fine detail, which reads as design at distance instead of becoming visual noise up close. In white and blue it also keeps most of the conspicuity advantage of a pale helmet across the shell. 🔵 The white areas show insect strike and road film sooner than the blue ones, so the helmet weathers unevenly between washes. A printed graphic cannot be touched in if chipped.
The X-Matrix2 shell
Four market homologations — ECE 22-06, DOT FMVSS 218, CCC GB811:2022 and NBR7471:2015 — is more than most helmets carry, and useful on a touring helmet that will cross borders.
The shell is X-Matrix2 multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite, in three outer sizes.
| Shell | Construction | Weight (Nexx) | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite | 1750 g ±50 | Plain, Quanta |
| X-PRO Carbon | carbon fibre | 1625 g | Rush, Zero Pro, Atlantic |
X-Block N'Seal — a visor that locks
Two clear visors in the box is unusual and genuinely useful on a touring helmet: a scratched visor is the most common thing that spoils a long trip, and a spare turns it into a five-minute job.
🔵 A photochromic visor is available separately — it darkens with UV and clears at dusk, which on a long day covers what neither a clear nor a tinted visor can.
The ultra-wide sun visor
An internal sun visor is what makes a sport-touring helmet usable across a whole day rather than a fair-weather one. Deploy it climbing into the sun, retract it in a tunnel, and never stop to change anything.
🔵 The X.TR's is ultra-wide and drops to just above the bridge of the nose; a photochromic outer visor is available if you prefer that route.
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
The two-part EPS also explains where the Mid Airflow Chamber lives. Splitting the liner creates a gap, and Nexx uses it twice: for the rubber decoupling layer, and as an air path around the head.
One structural decision, two functions — and part of why the helmet weighs what it does.
Two intakes, two chambers — and a 5/5 measurement
The Mid Airflow Chamber is the reason this helmet's EPS is split into two shells. Air is channelled through the gap between them, circulating around the head rather than merely passing over the crown.
🔵 It is patented, and the measured result supports it: a zero-degree interior delta and a 5/5 ventilation score.
Chin curtain, neck roll and how quiet it is
🔵 Earplugs are not an admission that a helmet is loud. Hearing damage from wind noise is cumulative and permanent, and it happens at speeds most riders consider ordinary — moulded plugs are the best comfort purchase after the helmet itself.
For the record, the X.TR measured 103 dB and was separately described as having minimal wind noise.
Interior, retention and fit
Retention is a metal micrometric ratchet rather than a plastic one, which on a touring helmet fastened twice a day for years is a durability decision rather than a specification-sheet one.
🔵 Check the adjustment every few months; it should be snug enough that the helmet cannot be rolled forward off your head.
1750 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 No independent safety rating exists for this helmet. SHARP has no X.TR entry, and there is no ADAC or Snell result. That means untested rather than poorly rated, but it is a gap in the evidence.
What has been measured: overall 3.8/5, ventilation 5/5, comfort 4/5, fit 4/5, noise 3/5 at 103 dB.
Comms, camera and spare parts
🔵 Check comms fit before buying the comms. X-COM3 is designed into this shell; a third-party unit will work but will not use the cable channels, battery recess or microphone position, and speaker depth varies enough between brands to cause pressure over a long day.
The system supports Mesh 3.0 / New Wave networking and is a separate purchase.
