DescriptionThe whole story▼
Black with gold is the other Lagoon and the more classical of the two. It is also the closest this helmet gets to the paint schemes of the era it references, where gold leaf on a dark shell was the mark of a properly finished helmet.
A Sixties silhouette on a 2026 shell
🔵 „Retro" on a helmet usually means the outside only. Here it also means what has been left out: no intercom provision, no Pinlock, no external vent hardware and no clear visor in the box.
Those absences are the design rather than an economy, and they are all covered honestly further down this page.
About the Lagoon Black Gold finish
Gold against black is the one accent pairing with a value gap wide enough to create real contrast without introducing a competing hue — which is why it has been used on helmets, tanks and instrument faces for a century. On the X.G30's unbroken dome the gold traces the shape rather than filling it, so the silhouette stays the subject. Practically, the black ground hides road film well and the gold detailing is the part that shows wear. 🔵 Conspicuity is low, as with every dark version here, on a helmet used mostly in town where it matters most.
Six layers, three shells
What you are buying structurally: a six-layer X-Matrix2 multi-composite shell in three outer sizes, a polystyrene impact liner, four market homologations and a double-D ring — all built at Nexx's own factory in Portugal.
Claimed weight is 1320 g ±50.
What an open-face helmet does and does not do
If you have only worn full-face helmets, the first ride in a jet is a genuine surprise: the periphery opens up, the sound changes, and the helmet stops feeling like something you are inside.
🔵 The second thing to understand is what it costs — no chin bar, no jaw protection, and a category that makes no provision for either.
The dark sun visor — and the clear one that is not there
🔵 Before you buy, settle the eyewear question. The X.G30 supplies a peak and a dark drop-down shield, and nothing clear. If you ride only in daylight that is a complete solution; if you ride home in the dark it is not.
A clear external visor is available separately, as are five tinted alternatives.
| External visor | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Clear | year-round use, night and rain — 🔴 not supplied with the helmet |
| 60 % tint | bright days without committing to full darkness |
| 80 % tint | strong summer sun — daylight only |
| Iridium red / green | mirrored, cuts glare — daylight only |
| Yellow HD | lifts contrast in flat, overcast and dusk light |
Interior, X-Mart Dry and the Ergo Padding System
The „Luxurious Cushion" description is Nexx's, and the part worth taking seriously is the material rather than the phrase. X-Mart Dry gives a soft touch, transports moisture roughly twice as fast as cotton and insulates when the temperature drops.
🔵 It is fully removable and washable, and replacement linings come in two trim colours.
The double-D ring
Nothing on the outside of this helmet is adjustable, and the strap is no exception: it is set by how hard you pull it rather than by a mechanism. That is consistent with the rest of the design, which removes hardware rather than adding it.
🔵 Chin-strap covers are removable and washable.
1320 grams, and the rest of the honest list
The complete honest list, in one place: no chin bar, no intercom provision, no Pinlock, no clear visor supplied, no independent rating, loud above city speeds, and cold in winter.
Against that: 1320 g ±50, a six-layer composite shell in three sizes, four market approvals, a double-D ring and an accessory range nothing else in the category matches.
Where it sits in Nexx's range
At 159 € the Purist is the least expensive way into a six-layer composite shell with three shell sizes, and the specification does not read like an entry-level helmet — four market approvals, an integrated shield, a peak and a double-D ring.
🔵 The compromises are the ones the whole range shares: no comms, no Pinlock, no clear visor.
Accessories and spare parts
The serviceable parts list on this helmet is longer than most jets': external visors in six finishes, the integrated dark sun visor, complete linings in two colours, peaks, chin-strap covers and the Ergo Padding System.
🔵 Between them they cover everything except the shell and the EPS — neither of which is replaceable after an impact.
