DescriptionThe whole story▼
Denim blue is the deepest colour in the Svelto line and the one that behaves most like a neutral. It is dark enough to hide a city's worth of road film and coloured enough not to read as another black helmet.
A Sixties silhouette on a 2026 shell
🔵 ECE 22-06 is a meaningfully harder standard than the one it replaced: more impact points, higher test speeds, and new requirements covering strap rotation and visor performance. On a helmet styled after the Sixties, holding the 2026 standard is the point.
The shell is a six-layer multi-composite; the retention is a double-D ring.
About the Svelto Denim Blue finish
Deep blue is consistently under-chosen on helmets and it is the most practical coloured finish available. Fine road film reads as a grey haze against black and as an obvious film against pale colours; against denim blue it largely disappears, which on a helmet washed occasionally rather than religiously matters over the whole ownership period. It also works with almost any jacket, which on a helmet worn with ordinary clothing rather than a riding suit is a real consideration. 🔵 Conspicuity sits above the blacks and below the pale versions — worth a thought on a helmet used mainly in traffic.
Six layers, three shells
Nexx describes the X-Matrix2 formula as combining advanced multi-directionality with first-quality composites across six layers, producing an ultralight shell that is stiffer and stronger than conventional fibres.
🔵 That is the manufacturer's account. What is independently verifiable is the ECE 22-06 approval and the three further market certifications.
What an open-face helmet does and does not do
An open-face is a deliberate compromise rather than a compromised full-face. What you gain is real: sight lines into your periphery, air in traffic, and around 1320 g that you stop noticing after five minutes.
🔵 What you give up is chin and jaw protection entirely.
The dark sun visor — and the clear one that is not there
Keep the shield as clean as you would an outer visor. It is the surface closest to your eyes, easy to forget because it lives inside the shell, and a fingerprint on it is far more visible than one outside.
🔵 Never wipe it dry — dust is abrasive and will scratch it permanently. It is dark-tinted; no clear alternative comes with the helmet.
| External visor | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Clear | year-round use, night and rain — 🔴 not supplied with the helmet |
| 60 % tint | bright days without committing to full darkness |
| 80 % tint | strong summer sun — daylight only |
| Iridium red / green | mirrored, cuts glare — daylight only |
| Yellow HD | lifts contrast in flat, overcast and dusk light |
Interior, X-Mart Dry and the Ergo Padding System
Three outer shell sizes do the coarse fitting before the padding is involved: XS–M, L and XL–XXL. Measure around the widest part of your head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows.
🔵 Between two sizes most riders take the larger one — but a helmet you can rotate on your head by hand is too big, whatever the tape says.
The double-D ring
Racing regulations require a double-D ring, and the reason is simple: there is nothing in it to fail. No plastic, no teeth, no spring, no adjustment screw. Two steel loops and a strap.
🔵 On a jet that matters more than usual, because the cheek pads that help hold a full-face in place are far less substantial here.
1320 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 The best argument for a light helmet is not comfort on a long ride, it is the short one. At 1320 g with no chin bar, this is the helmet you reach for rather than deciding to take the car.
What you accept: wind noise above city speeds, no chin protection, and a dark-only screen unless you buy a clear visor.
Where it sits in Nexx's range
🔵 A useful comparison. The Y.10 gives you a lightly tinted shield and a peak. The X.G30 gives you a dark shield, a peak, a composite shell and three shell sizes.
Neither supplies a clear visor, and only the Y.10 takes an intercom.
Accessories and spare parts
🔵 A word on visor care, because it prevents most of the visor sales we make. Never wipe a dry visor or shield — dust is abrasive and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent scratches that flare against headlights at night.
Wet it first, every time. Six external visor finishes are available for this helmet.
