DescriptionThe whole story▼
Svelto is the newer line in the X.G30 range and takes a different route from the Groovy's period trim: single-colour shells with a more contemporary finish. Metal Black is its darkest and most restrained.
A Sixties silhouette on a 2026 shell
The X.Garage collection is Nexx's classic line, and the X.G30 is its full-size jet. Everything in the collection shares the same design language — the double-D ring, the clean shell, the trimmed opening — rather than being a single retro model in a modern range.
🔵 The shell is six-layer X-Matrix2 composite in three outer sizes, certified to ECE 22-06.
About the Svelto Metal Black finish
A metallic black is a genuinely different thing from a plain one. The flake catches across the dome's curvature as the helmet turns, which on an unbroken shell with no vents or spoiler to interrupt it is the only way to show the shape at all. That makes this the version that photographs the helmet's proportions most honestly — and the X.G30 is a compact helmet, which three shell sizes keep true. 🔵 It is a gloss finish with metallic beneath: the same washing discipline as any black, slightly better at disguising fine swirls because the flake breaks up reflections, and low conspicuity in poor light.
Six layers, three shells
The shell is deliberately unbroken — no external vent hardware, no spoiler, nothing bolted to the outside. That is a styling decision with a practical benefit: there is nothing to break, nothing to jam with grit and nothing that rattles at speed.
Underneath it: six-layer X-Matrix2 composite in three outer shell sizes.
What an open-face helmet does and does not do
The useful way to choose is by where you actually ride rather than by which helmet is theoretically safest. On classic machinery, in town, on unhurried country roads, an open-face is the helmet that gets worn.
🔵 At sustained speed or over distance it is the wrong tool — no chin bar, no weather protection, and considerable noise.
The dark sun visor — and the clear one that is not there
Peripheral vision is the whole reason to wear an open-face, and Nexx specifically cites improved peripheral vision as a design aim for this shield — it is shaped not to intrude at the edges of your view.
🔵 It is dark-tinted, and no clear alternative is supplied. External visors in six finishes are available as accessories.
| External visor | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Clear | year-round use, night and rain — 🔴 not supplied with the helmet |
| 60 % tint | bright days without committing to full darkness |
| 80 % tint | strong summer sun — daylight only |
| Iridium red / green | mirrored, cuts glare — daylight only |
| Yellow HD | lifts contrast in flat, overcast and dusk light |
Interior, X-Mart Dry and the Ergo Padding System
🔵 A new helmet should feel firm but never painful. The liner beds in over the first few hours and again across the first season, so a helmet that is perfect in the shop will usually be loose by the summer's end. Start tighter than comfortable.
The universal Ergo Padding System is available for fine adjustment.
The double-D ring
What a double-D gives you that a ratchet cannot is repeatability. A ratchet has a set adjustment and a series of steps; a double-D is pulled to whatever tension you choose, every time, with nothing between the settings.
🔵 What it costs is speed, and the fact that it is genuinely awkward in thick winter gloves.
1320 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 No independent safety rating exists for this helmet and none will — SHARP does not lab-rate open-face jets, and there is no ADAC or Snell entry. Out of scope rather than poorly rated.
What it holds: ECE 22-06, DOT FMVSS 218, CCC GB811:2022 and NBR7471:2015. Weight 1320 g ±50.
Where it sits in Nexx's range
🔵 If you want the classic look with a chin bar, this is the wrong category rather than the wrong helmet — a retro full-face gives you the same design era with jaw protection.
Within the open-face category, the X.G30 is among the best-built examples available: six-layer composite, three shell sizes, four market approvals.
Accessories and spare parts
Peaks are available separately as well as supplied — one comes with the helmet in matt black — which lets you change the look or replace one after a drop.
🔵 A peak on a jet catches air above about 80 km/h. Fitting and removing it takes seconds, so it is worth choosing by the ride rather than committing.
