Shadow is the tonal graphic in the range — grey on grey, with no second colour anywhere. It is the most designed-looking of the sixteen while being, by some distance, the least loud.

KPA shell, multi-density EPS and three shell sizes

🔵 A note on how a helmet actually protects you: almost all of the work is done by the EPS crushing. The shell's job is to keep the impact from concentrating in one spot and to stop anything penetrating.

Both are present here, and the EPS is graded by density rather than uniform.

What the ECE 22.06 plaque actually means

🔵 The plaque is small and easy to ignore, and it is the only part of a helmet that carries a legal guarantee. On the Stream II it reads 22.06 — the schedule introduced in 2021 and mandatory for new sales in the EU since January 2024.

Check it on any helmet you are offered second-hand.

About the Shadow titanium and grey graphic

A monochrome graphic is harder to execute than a coloured one, because everything depends on value rather than hue: get the separation between the two greys wrong and the artwork disappears into the shell or looks like a printing fault. Here it works, and the result is a helmet whose pattern is visible in raking light and almost invisible in flat light — which is a genuinely different quality from a helmet that simply has no graphic. For a rider who wants the shell to look considered without carrying a colour, this is the one. The practical properties are the best in the range for low maintenance: mid greys hide road film, dried rain and motorway deposit better than any other value, and sit high enough to be resolved against tarmac more readily than a black helmet. 🔵 Standard gloss care applies — wash wet, dry with a soft cloth, never dry-wipe. It is also the finish that suits a modern naked or an adventure bike best, where a coloured graphic often fights with the bodywork. Grey on grey sits with anything, which is a duller virtue than it sounds and a genuinely useful one.

Twin Visor: two screens, one shell

🔵 Glare is not only a comfort problem. Squinting into low sun narrows what you take in at exactly the moment junctions and shadows are hardest to read, and a shield you can deploy without stopping is the difference between using it and not.

Anti-fog — prepared for, not supplied

🔵 The one specification on this helmet where LS2 has economised is the anti-fog insert, and it is a defensible place to do it at this price — provided you know before ordering rather than after.

Ventilation, and what we are not claiming about it

🔵 When a helmet description lists vents without saying what happens between them, that usually means there are no moulded channels. We are not going to fill that gap with an assumption.

The Stream II has a crown intake, a chin intake and a rear exhaust. LS2 documents nothing further.

Lining, closure and everyday comfort

🔵 Comfort over four hours is decided by pressure distribution rather than softness. A helmet that feels plush in the first minute often has too little support and creates a hot spot later; one that feels firm and even usually does not.

The Stream II's padding is laser-cut and comes out for washing and replacement.

Where it sits in LS2's range

🔵 What the Stream II is not: a competition helmet. It holds ECE 22.06 for road use and no FIM homologation, so it is not eligible for FIM-sanctioned racing whatever the graphic on it suggests.

LS2's FIM helmet is the FF805 Thunder GP Pro FIM.

Care and replacement parts

🔵 Never repaint a helmet or apply solvent-based stickers to one. Paint solvents attack thermoplastic and the damage cannot be seen from outside; it also voids any approval the helmet carries.
