DescriptionThe whole story▼
Gloss white is the cheapest way into a four-star helmet, and by a comfortable margin the most visible thing you can put on your head in daylight. Those two facts sit oddly together, and they are both true here.
Four stars from SHARP
🟢 SHARP rates the Stream II at 4 stars of 5. SHARP is the UK Department for Transport's helmet programme: it buys helmets anonymously at retail and destroys them, rather than testing samples a manufacturer supplies.
🔵 Tested September 2024, in the helmet's ECE 22.06 form — a current result on the current standard.
KPA shell, multi-density EPS and three shell sizes
The shell is KPA — an injection-moulded thermoplastic — over a multi-density EPS liner, and the helmet weighs about 1550 g (±50 g).
🔵 Three outer shell sizes cover eight helmet sizes from 2XS to 3XL, so a small head gets a small shell rather than a large one packed with foam.
What the ECE 22.06 plaque actually means
The ECE 22.06 plaque on the chin strap is the physical proof of a test schedule that changed substantially in 2021: impact points went from five to as many as eighteen, and a second, lower test speed was added.
🔵 A helmet that performs at 8 m/s does not automatically perform at 6, which is why the lower speed was introduced.
About the solid gloss white finish
The conspicuity argument is the strongest one available for any helmet colour and it applies most where riders actually get hurt: a car waiting at a junction, flat overcast light, the moment a driver decides whether the gap is clear. Your head is what gets scanned in that moment — it is above the headlight, at windscreen height, and moving against a background that is not. A white shell resolves there sooner than a dark one, and the effect is largest exactly when the light is worst. There is a thermal case as well. Waiting at a red light in July there is no airflow to speak of, and a white shell reflects solar energy that a black one converts into heat inside the EPS. 🔵 The cost is that white shows everything — road film, fly strike, brake dust. Gloss wipes clean faster than matt does, which helps, and on safety equipment you ought to be inspecting anyway, a finish that shows dirt honestly is not entirely a drawback. Wash it wet and dry it with a soft cloth, and expect to do it more often than you would with a dark helmet.
Twin Visor: two screens, one shell
The Twin Visor System puts the tinted screen inside the shell instead of in your jacket pocket. A slider drops it, a slider retracts it, and it disappears completely when it is up.
🔵 After the safety rating it is the most useful thing on this helmet.
Anti-fog — prepared for, not supplied
🔵 The Stream II is prepared for a Pinlock® 70 MaxVision™ insert — it does not come with one. The visor carries the pins; the lens is a separate purchase.
We state this plainly because „Pinlock ready" is frequently read as „Pinlock included", and the difference is a separate purchase.
Ventilation, and what we are not claiming about it
Ventilation is a crown intake, a chin intake and a rear exhaust — the standard through-flow arrangement.
🔵 One thing we will not claim: LS2 documents no ventilation channels moulded into the EPS on this model, unlike the FF820 and FF818. Air enters and leaves; how it is guided in between is not specified.
Lining, closure and everyday comfort
The comfort padding is laser-cut rather than die-cut. Laser cutting leaves a clean sealed face on the foam instead of a crushed one, so the padding keeps its shape longer and does not shed at the edges.
🔵 It comes out completely for washing, and replacement pads are available.
Where it sits in LS2's range
The Stream II is LS2's mainstream full-face road helmet: thermoplastic, well equipped, and independently rated.
🔵 Within this model the price ladder is entirely cosmetic. The three plain finishes and the slightly pricier graphics share one shell, one liner and one SHARP result.
Care and replacement parts
The parts that wear are all replaceable: visors, the internal sun visor, cheek pads in several thicknesses, the complete lining and the vent covers.
🔵 The EPS liner is not among them. It absorbs energy by crushing, it crushes once, and after a real impact the helmet is finished however it looks.

The Stream II runs from 2XS to 3XL — eight sizes across three outer shells.
