DescriptionThe whole story▼
Drako is the most decorative Stream II and the only one that uses gold. On a helmet at this price that is an unusual thing to attempt, and it works because the gold is used as an accent rather than as a field.
Four stars from SHARP
🔵 One thing the star count does not capture: ECE 22.06 added an oblique impact test measuring rotational acceleration, and SHARP's star rating is built primarily on linear impact performance.
The two assessments overlap without being the same thing. The Stream II holds both — 22.06 approval and 4 SHARP stars.
KPA shell, multi-density EPS and three shell sizes
🔵 The reason a helmet's shell material gets over-discussed: it is the part you can see. The liner underneath does more of the protecting, and the Stream II's is multi-density EPS rather than a single grade.
Shell: KPA thermoplastic, three sizes, about 1550 g complete.
What the ECE 22.06 plaque actually means
🔵 Worth separating two things that sound alike. ECE 22.06 is a pass or fail legal requirement. SHARP is a voluntary comparative rating from a government programme.
The Stream II holds the first and scores 4 of 5 on the second. Both are stated on this page because they mean different things.
About the Drako graphic
Metallic accents are difficult on a helmet. A large gold area looks cheap almost immediately, because a flat metallic pigment cannot produce the depth that a real metal surface does; used as a thin line or an edge it does the opposite, catching light along a curve and giving the shell an apparent third dimension. Drako takes the second approach, keeping gold to the detail and letting red do the colour work against a dark base. The result is the most ornamental helmet in the range without being the loudest — it reads as black and red at distance and only shows the gold when the light moves across it. 🔵 Two practical notes. It inherits a dark helmet's conspicuity limitation in poor light, softened by the red. And metallic and printed elements cannot be touched in after damage, so a deep scratch is permanent. Wash it wet, dry with a soft cloth. A note on the wider range: this is the finish that photographs best and the one that looks most expensive in the flesh, which on an affordable helmet is not nothing. It is also the least anonymous of the dark options.
Twin Visor: two screens, one shell
🔵 A tinted outer visor is restricted to daylight use in most European jurisdictions. An internal shield sidesteps the problem entirely — retract it and you are behind a clear visor again, legally and instantly.
That is the practical argument for the Twin Visor System over a second screen.
Anti-fog — prepared for, not supplied
🔵 A quick check when the helmet arrives: look at the inside edges of the visor for the two adjustable pins. They should already be there.
That is the „Pinlock prepared" specification — the mounting, without the lens.
Ventilation, and what we are not claiming about it
🔵 If you ride mostly in traffic, ventilation matters less than you would think — there is no airflow at a standstill regardless of the vent design, and what helps at that point is a light-coloured shell rather than a clever one.
The Stream II's vents are conventional and adequate; nobody has measured them independently.
Lining, closure and everyday comfort
🔵 The chin wind deflector is worth leaving fitted even in summer. It costs almost nothing in airflow and takes a noticeable amount of turbulence out of the space under the chin bar.
It is included with the helmet rather than sold separately.
Where it sits in LS2's range
🔵 Comparing across brands, hold the equipment constant. A cheaper helmet without an internal sun visor is not cheaper by the difference on the sticker; a more expensive one with a Pinlock included is not more expensive by as much as it looks.
The Stream II has the sun visor and does not have the Pinlock.
Care and replacement parts
🔵 Five years is the standard replacement guidance and it is not arbitrary — adhesives, foam and shell material all change with time, temperature and UV, whether or not the helmet has been used hard.
Keep the purchase date somewhere you will find it.
In the box
- LS2 FF808 Stream II helmet — Drako, Black, red and gold (KPA shell)
- Clear outer visor, fitted
- Internal drop-down sun visor, fitted

- 🔵 No second visor and no intercom — the helmet is prepared for a Bluetooth system; both are separate purchases
Size guide
🔵 Glasses change the fit. If you wear them, put them on when you try the helmet and check both that the arms slide in without catching and that the internal sun visor clears the frames.
Both are size and shape questions rather than faults.

Specification
- Model — LS2 FF808 Stream II
- Part number — 168082812
- Colour — Drako — Black, red and gold
- Homologation — ECE 22.06
- 🟢 Safety rating — SHARP 4 stars of 5, tested September 2024 on ECE 22.06. Zones: maximum (5) across the board at 6 m/s and 7.5 m/s; at 8.5 m/s crown and front 5, left and right 3
- Shell — KPA injection-moulded thermoplastic; three shell sizes (2XS–S / M–L / XL–3XL)
- Impact liner — multi-density EPS — graded so each region is tuned separately rather than one compromise density
- Weight — approx. 1550 g (±50 g)
- Sizes — 2XS to 3XL (eight sizes)
- Optics — Twin Visor System — clear outer visor plus fully retracting internal sun visor, both covered by the ECE 22.06 approval
- 🔴 Anti-fog — prepared for Pinlock® 70 MaxVision™ — the insert is NOT included. The visor carries the pins; the lens is a separate purchase
- Ventilation — crown intake, chin intake and rear exhaust. 🔵 LS2 documents no EPS ventilation channels for this model, unlike the FF820 and FF818 — and no independent airflow measurement exists, so the rating here is a construction assessment
- 🔴 Wind noise — left unrated — no independent measurement is published for this helmet; Certimoov has not tested it
- Retention — quick-release ratchet on a padded strap
- Interior — laser-cut comfort foam — sealed cut faces rather than crushed; fully removable and washable
- Included — chin wind deflector, fitted
- Communication — prepared for Bluetooth intercom — no system supplied
- 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet, not eligible for FIM-sanctioned competition
- Serviceability — visors, internal sun visor, cheek pads in several thicknesses, complete lining and vent covers all available separately
- Replacement guidance — after about five years regardless of condition, and immediately after any impact
