The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
The belt is the detail that explains the whole motorcycle. Ducati gave the XDiavel a belt final drive because a belt is quiet, clean and asks for almost nothing, and that choice tells you who the bike was drawn for: riders who want to use a Ducati without adopting the maintenance culture that usually comes with one. Feet forward, torque from just above idle, and a drivetrain that does not want attention. An air filter that is cleaned instead of consumed belongs to the same philosophy, and PM127S is designed to stay in the machine for its working life.
Key Features
- Dry polyester cloth, unoiled from the first fitting to the last
- Around twice the medium area of a conventional performance panel
- Goes into the original housing in the paper panel's place, without a remap
- Serviced with compressed air in the time it takes to check the belt tension
- Built to last the motorcycle's service life rather than one interval
- Two-year warranty running from the day of purchase
A machine designed to be left alone
Every low-maintenance decision on this bike shifts effort away from the owner, and the air filter is one of the few items that stubbornly resists. Paper has to be found, bought, fitted and thrown away, on a schedule somebody else set. This one has to be taken out and blown through — a task, not a transaction, and one that can be done at the same time as anything else the bike is up on the stand for. No extra horsepower is on offer in exchange; the return is that a line on the service schedule stops recurring.
Nine model years on one part number
The XDiavel ran from 2016 to 2024 with the same airbox from beginning to end, which is unusual over that span and useful to an owner. Twenty other Ducatis take the identical element, so it stays in circulation and easy to find long after any single model leaves the price list — and on a bike people keep for a decade, availability years from now is a more practical concern than anything printed on the packaging.
Care and cleaning
Cleaning is a garage job of a few minutes: compressed air directed at the clean face and worked outward until the weave gives up nothing more. Occasionally it will want water — warm, with a mild detergent, rinsed until clear and then dried right through in air. Heat destroys the medium, so keep it away from radiators, hot-air guns and flames, and refit it dry. Sprint Filter's maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Ducati XDiavel built from 2016 to 2024. Twenty-one Ducati models in total share this element; the Fitment tab lists each of them.
