DescriptionThe whole story▼
Please note: sale to France is prohibited.
The Shoei X-SPR PRO02 FIM2 in matte black is not merely a colourway choice — it is a statement of intent. The restrained, non-reflective finish strips away distraction and lets the helmet's finely sculpted aerodynamic surfaces speak for themselves, carrying forward the lineage of one of the most decorated racing helmets in professional motorsport history. With the new FIM FRHPhe-02 (FIM2) homologation added to ECE 22.06 approval, the PRO02 now meets the most stringent helmet standard in professional racing worldwide.
Key Features
- FIM2 homologation (FIM FRHPhe-02) alongside ECE 22.06 — the highest dual certification available to a road-legal racing helmet
- AIM+ (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus) outer shell integrating high-performance fibres and organic composite materials across multiple impact-absorbing layers
- 13-vent aerodynamic system — 7 intakes and 6 exhausts — including an upgraded cheek-pad ventilation channel for sustained airflow during race stints
- CWR-F2R racing visor with a 5 mm extended vertical field of vision, tear-off compatibility, dual locking mechanism and included Pinlock EVO lens
- EQRS (Emergency Quick Release System) for rapid cheek-pad removal by medical personnel, combined with a traditional double-D ring closure
- Hydration system ready — compatible with Camelbak Big Bite, Camelbak Crux and Shoei's own drink systems for endurance use
Design, Finish and Heritage
Shoei's X-SPR lineage traces directly to the helmets worn at the very top of road racing. The PRO02 is the latest evolution, and its matte black finish has been chosen deliberately: the flat, light-absorbing surface emphasises the concave crown profile, the twin air-tunnel channels and the lateral stabilising fins that distinguish this shell from its predecessor. There are no graphics to catch the eye — only the geometry of a helmet designed in a wind tunnel and refined through over 150 aerodynamic optimisations.
Four outer shell sizes cover the full XS-to-XXL range (XS–S / M / L / XL–XXL), ensuring that the relationship between the shell and the EPS liner is optimised for every head circumference rather than simply scaled. This attention to proportion is a hallmark of Shoei's premium manufacturing approach.
Safety and Shell Construction
The AIM+ shell combines high-performance fibres with organic composite layers and multi-density EPS to distribute and absorb impact energy across a wide surface area. The result is exceptional rigidity at low weight — approximately 1,450 g depending on size — without compromising the progressive crush behaviour that protects against rotational forces. ECE 22.06 sets a demanding baseline; the FIM FRHPhe-02 (FIM2) standard exceeds it, reflecting the demands of professional racing series where helmet performance is subject to independent scrutiny.
Closure and Emergency Systems
- EQRS allows paramedics to remove cheek pads swiftly in an emergency without helmet manipulation
- Double-D ring closure provides the positive retention and zero-creep security required for racing use
Comfort for Extended Race Stints
Controlling a motorcycle at the limit demands that the helmet feel like part of the rider rather than an addition to them. The PRO02 addresses this through newly developed 3D-formed cheek pads with a significantly larger contact surface, adjustable head pads with integrated retention pockets, and a variable pad-mounting system that allows the helmet's angular relationship to the head to be fine-tuned. All interior materials are quick-drying and skin-friendly, and the entire liner assembly is fully removable and machine washable. Even in an extreme forward-leaning race position the fit remains stable and the peripheral vision unobstructed.
Ventilation System
Thirteen apertures — seven precisely directed intakes and six exhaust ports — drive a deeply branched internal airflow network that channels fresh air across the EPS and through upgraded cheek-pad vents. The system is calibrated for high-speed use: airflow increases progressively with speed, making the PRO02 especially effective at track pace rather than merely adequate at low-speed touring speeds. The result is a helmet that stays usable in heat and over the full distance of a race or trackday.
Aerodynamics
More than 150 individual aerodynamic refinements separate the PRO02 from its predecessor. The optimised rear stabiliser, dual air-tunnel routing, lateral guide vanes and concave upper-shell profile work together to reduce lift, minimise buffeting and lower neck-muscle fatigue at sustained high speed. At 350 km/h and beyond — the conditions for which this helmet is type-approved under FIM2 — the PRO02 remains directionally stable and free from the pitch and yaw oscillation that can compromise rider confidence.
CWR-F2R Visor
The included CWR-F2R visor extends the vertical field of view by 5 mm compared to earlier Shoei racing visors, delivering a clear sightline even in the lowest racing tuck. The Pinlock EVO insert — with its mounting pins positioned outside the main field of vision — prevents fogging without visual distraction. Tear-off compatibility and a dual locking mechanism complete a visor system designed for the demands of professional competition.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Shoei X-SPR PRO02 FIM2 is approved for both road and track use under ECE 22.06 and FIM FRHPhe-02 (FIM2) respectively. It is suitable for riders seeking a race-homologated helmet for circuit competition, trackday use or demanding road riding. The helmet offers a sport-oriented, close-fitting race shell profile. Eyeglass wearers may use the helmet subject to the spectacle relief cut; however, the tight race fit should be assessed in person before purchase. Bluetooth and intercom systems may be fitted using universal aftermarket solutions; no dedicated Shoei SRL integration is specified for the X-SPR PRO.

“The same shell and the same class-leading airflow as the standard X-SPR PRO, homologated to the newer FIM FRHPhe-02 instead. If your series has moved to the current standard this is the version you need; otherwise you are paying 150 € for paperwork.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06 and FIM FRHPhe-02 — the current racing standard.
EQRS, double-D and four shell sizes: nothing missing.
Thirteen ports, and reviewers rate the airflow best in class.
150 wind-tunnel configurations; it holds a line at speed.
1,450 g — mid-pack for a full race shell.
99 dB. Quiet for a race lid, still loud for touring.
Five cheek-pad thicknesses and padding testers call class-leading.
Four shell sizes, six helmet sizes, intermediate oval.
A pure race full-face, and it looks the part.
799 € buys the benchmark — but never the bargain.
949 € — High class. Hover the bar for each range. Value is scored against the racing field, not in the abstract.
