Eagle Rider is the only graphic version of the Y.10 and sits alone between the Sunny and Midtown lines. It is a matt black shell with a grey graphic rather than a colour livery — restrained by the standards of the category.

What an open-face helmet does and does not do

🔵 Worth stating plainly because it decides the purchase: this helmet has no chin bar. The ECE 22-06 open-face category does not test for chin impact, because there is nothing there to test.

Everything else the standard covers — shell, liner, retention, abrasion — the Y.10 meets, and to the current 22.06 revision rather than the older 22.05.

About the Eagle Rider graphic

Graphics on urban jets usually go one of two ways: either loud enough to be the only thing anyone sees, or so subtle they were not worth printing. This one sits between them by working in tone rather than colour — grey on matt black, so the design is fully present at conversational distance and the helmet still reads as plain from across a street. On a helmet worn with ordinary clothes rather than riding gear, that restraint is usually the right call. 🔵 A printed graphic cannot be touched in if chipped, and this is the least conspicuous version in the Y.10 range.

Polyfusion, two shells and three approvals

Two shell sizes rather than one is the specification that most affects how this helmet looks on you. XXS–L uses the smaller shell; XL–XXL the larger. Measure around the widest part of your head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows.

The material is Polyfusion thermoplastic, at 1325 g ±50, approved to ECE 22-06, DOT and NBR.

The sun visor, the peak — and the clear visor that is not there

Two pieces of eye and sun protection come with this helmet and they cover different angles. The peak handles sun from above; the drop-down shield handles glare ahead.

🔵 Neither is a clear visor, and none is supplied. In rain or after dark, add glasses or goggles.

Airflow on an open-face

Comparing a jet's vent count with a full-face's is close to meaningless. A full-face has to move air past a closed chin bar and behind a sealed visor; here the entire lower half of your head is in the airstream already.

🔵 What the Y.10's system manages is the crown. A two-stage top vent appears on some versions rather than all.

Interior, glasses and the buckle

The parts of a helmet that wear are the ones you touch, and on a jet that is most of the interior. Liner, cheek padding and the trim around the opening all take sweat and skin contact daily.

🔵 All of it is removable and washable, which is the single best thing you can do to make a helmet last.

Intercom — and the 45 mm limit

Nexx's own X-COM systems are designed around the X-range rather than this helmet; the Y.10 uses universal provision instead. That is a saving rather than an omission — you fit whatever you already have.

1325 grams, and the rest of the honest list

🔵 Noise deserves a straight answer. An open-face is louder than any full-face and there is no design that changes it. At city speeds it is a non-issue; on a fast road it is fatiguing, and earplugs are equipment rather than an accessory.

Weight, by contrast, is a strength: 1325 g ±50.

Choosing the right size

🔵 Hair matters more than most people expect. If you usually ride with your hair up or wear a thin balaclava in winter, try the helmet on the way you will actually wear it — the difference is often a whole size.

When something wears out

Keeping a spare peak is worth considering if you use one. It is the most exposed component on the helmet and the cheapest to replace, and a broken peak on an otherwise sound helmet is an annoyance rather than a reason to buy a new one.
