DescriptionThe whole story▼
Pro Pink Rage does without graphics altogether. The whole shell of this Nexx X.R5R is painted in one deep, glossy pink with a metallic sparkle, so the helmet is all colour and shape. Underneath the paint is the same carbon shell as the patterned X.R5R decors, which means a racing full-face of roughly 1,325 grams (M shell) with four shell sizes, eight intakes, a locking race visor and a spoiler you can lengthen by hand. Nexx launched the model on 27 October 2026. ECE 22.06, sizes XS to XXL.
About the Pro Pink Rage finish
The Pro line is Nexx's solid-colour version of the X.R5R. On Pink Rage the paint covers the chin bar, the cheeks, the crown and the spoiler in a single shade that reads raspberry in the shadows and turns brighter, almost fuchsia, where light hits the curves. Only a narrow strip of carbon weave shows low at the back, under the spoiler. The vents and the lower trim are dark grey, and the Nexx name sits in small silver letters behind the visor. In the official photo the helmet wears a dark tinted visor, which gives it a sleek, monochrome profile. A single gloss colour is the easiest of all finishes to keep looking new: it wipes clean, polishes well, and a small chip can be touched up more convincingly than on a multi-colour graphic, though an exact match on a metallic pink is never guaranteed. Like any strong colour exposed to sunlight for years, it may lose a little depth, so store it out of direct sun.
Carbon under the paint
With a painted helmet you might ask why the shell should be carbon at all. The answer is weight and stiffness: the X-PRO Carbon construction is what brings the X.R5R down to approx. 1,325 g ± 50 g. Our supplier's list files the Pro decor as X-Matrix 2 composite at 1,475 g, but Nexx's own page describes Pro Pink Rage as X-PRO Carbon with the carbon accessory package, including the Pinlock 200 XLT MaxVision. We follow Nexx and will tell you before dispatch if a delivered helmet ever differs.
Neck load over a session
Weight matters most when you cannot rest your head. In a full tuck the neck muscles hold the helmet up and forward against the airflow; under braking they resist being pulled towards the tank. Repeat that for twenty laps and the difference between a 1.3 kg and a 1.6 kg helmet becomes something you feel in your shoulders the next morning. Small sizes come in under the quoted figure, the XL-XXL shell somewhat over it.
Carbon or X-Matrix 2: the two X.R5R versions
Nexx sells the X.R5R in two shell materials, and it helps to know how they differ:
- X-PRO Carbon (this helmet): approx. 1,325 g in the M shell, Pinlock 200 XLT MaxVision, racing bag included
- X-Matrix 2 composite (Plain decors): approx. 1,475 g, Pinlock 120 XLT MaxVision, no racing bag listed
- Both: four shell sizes, eight intakes and five exhausts, the same visor and spoiler system
The older X.R3R is a separate model; its visors, Pinlocks and spoilers do not fit the X.R5R.
Ventilation
Eight intakes feed the X.R5R, five exhausts let the warm air out. You can close the top and chin intakes when it is cold, and the cheek pads have their own airflow channels. An Air Cumbs chamber built into the liner spreads the air across the head. On a racing helmet the position of the openings matters as much as their number: with your chin almost on the tank, the forehead sits in the shadow of the screen, so the chin intake and the cheek-pad channels do much of the work. With thirteen openings in total, the X.R5R has more than the X.R3R it sits beside in the range, which had six intakes and four exhausts.
Spoiler and visor lock
For stability at speed, the rear spoiler takes an extensor that slides in without tools and adds up to 20 mm, useful when you ride low behind a race screen. The Recoil visor mechanism is smaller than on earlier Nexx helmets, offers three intermediate opening positions for slow riding, and the X-Race lock prevents the visor from lifting at high speed. Tear-off posts are ready; tear-offs themselves are sold separately.
Fit and liner
Nexx's 360° Custom Fit system uses interchangeable pads and cheek pads to adjust the helmet to your head shape. The liner is made from X-Mart Dry fabric and comes out completely for washing. The manual describes the interior as suitable for glasses. Four shells (XXS-S, M, L, XL-XXL) keep the outer size close to your head size; we offer XS to XXL.
Camera, intercom and drinking tube
A 360° chin mount for an action camera with four locking positions is supplied. The shell accepts a universal intercom, and integrated straps hold an X-Hidro drinking tube for long, hot sessions. A wind deflector is also part of the package.
Strap and emergency release
A double D-ring with light Peraluman rings, as specified for the carbon X.R5R, closes the strap, and a magnetic X-Lock holder secures the end. If you are injured, rescuers can pull out the cheek pads before removing the helmet. Reflectors on the shell increase visibility at night.
The ECE 22.06 label
Every new road helmet sold in the EU since 2024 needs ECE 22.06. Compared with the previous 22.05, it multiplies the number of impact points, tests at several speeds, introduces oblique impacts against an abrasive anvil to capture rotational forces, and checks the visor more thoroughly. Nexx lists further approvals for markets outside Europe.
Honest downsides
The X.R5R has no drop-down sun visor. It is not FIM homologated: the Nexx page for Pro Pink Rage crosses out the FIM racing standard. No SHARP result or independent noise test exists yet, because the helmet has only just been released, so we give no decibel figure. Dedicated X.R5R visors and spares are still being added to the Nexx accessory range.
