DescriptionThe whole story▼
Jaggo Carbon Black Grey is the quietest of the three Jaggo colourways: black carbon weave overlaid with smoky grey rosettes that only reveal themselves when light rakes across the shell. It is built on the Nexx X.R5R, a racing full-face that went on sale on 27 October 2026 with an X-PRO Carbon shell, four outer sizes, a race visor lock and a spoiler you lengthen by hand. ECE 22.06 approved, stocked from XS to XXL.
About the Jaggo Carbon Black Grey finish
From a few metres away this decor reads as a dark, glossy carbon helmet. Step closer and a pattern of irregular spots, similar to a big-cat coat, appears in translucent grey over the weave on the crown, cheeks, chin and spoiler. A brushed-silver R emblem sits on top, with a small X-PRO Carbon script beneath it, and the Nexx name runs vertically in pale grey behind the eye port. The visor on the Nexx photograph is dark tinted. Because the pattern is printed under the clear coat rather than painted in bold colour, minor scuffs on Black Grey are less obvious than on a white or bright helmet, and a polished-out swirl does not leave a visible patch. The trade-off is heat: a near-black shell absorbs more sun than a light one, which you will notice standing on the grid in July.
Carbon or X-Matrix? What we checked
Our supplier's 2027 price list files Jaggo under the heavier X-Matrix 2 composite at 1,475 g. Nexx's own product page for Jaggo says X-PRO Carbon, the helmet on the official images carries the X-PRO Carbon script, the weave is visible through the lacquer, and the item code follows the pattern of the carbon versions. We follow the manufacturer: this page describes the carbon helmet. If the shipment ever differs, we will tell you before dispatch.
Jaggo itself comes in three versions: this Black Grey, a Blue Red with pastel blue panels and red accents, and a White Silver. All three share the spot motif and the carbon base, so the choice is purely about how loud you want the helmet to look.
What around 1,325 g means on track
Nexx states approx. 1,325 g ± 50 g for the carbon X.R5R in the M shell. On a race bike your neck holds the helmet in a forward, chin-down position for twenty minutes at a time, and at the end of the straight the braking load tries to pull it further forwards. A light shell reduces that strain session after session, which helps concentration in the last laps of the day. The figure varies with size: the smallest shell weighs a little less, the largest a little more.
Shaped for the tuck
Two features work together when you are flat behind the screen. The integrated rear spoiler takes a slide-in extensor that adds up to 20 mm without tools, giving extra stability in a low position. And the ventilation has been arranged so that air still arrives in a tuck: eight intakes, including a closable chin vent and closable top vents, channels through the cheek pads, five exhausts at the rear and an Air Cumbs chamber in the liner that distributes the flow.
On the road the picture changes. Sitting more upright, you take the wind on the chin bar and the brow rather than over the top of the shell, and the extended spoiler is then usually unnecessary; leave it at standard length for commuting and fit the extensor for track days. In winter, closing the chin and crown intakes stops cold air reaching your face and scalp, while the Pinlock insert takes care of fogging.
Visor: lock, steps and tear-off posts
Nexx redesigned the visor mechanism for this model and made it smaller. The Recoil visor sits in three intermediate positions for slow riding, and the X-Race lock clamps it shut at speed so it cannot be lifted by the airflow. Tear-off posts are prepared for rain sessions, while the tear-off strips are bought separately. A Pinlock 200 XLT MaxVision insert is specified for the carbon X.R5R.
Sizing across four shells
There are four outer shells: XXS-S, M, L and XL-XXL. Since M and L each have a dedicated shell, most riders get an outer shape that matches their size closely, and smaller heads avoid the bulk of an oversized shell. We offer XS to XXL. The 360° Custom Fit interior adds interchangeable pads for the final adjustment.
Hydration, camera and intercom
Built-in straps guide an X-Hidro drinking tube, useful on hot endurance days. The chin mount for an action camera rotates through 360° and locks in four positions, and the shell is prepared for a universal intercom, so road riders can fit the system they already own. A wind deflector is part of the standard X.R5R kit.
Protection details
The helmet holds ECE 22.06, the European standard with rotational tests, oblique impacts on an abrasive anvil and many more test points than the earlier 22.05. Retention is by double D-ring with a magnetic X-Lock strap holder; Nexx specifies Peraluman rings for the carbon models. Emergency tabs let rescuers draw out the cheek pads first, and reflectors are integrated for night riding.
Things it will not do
No sun visor is fitted, so bright days call for a tinted visor or sunglasses under it. The Jaggo page on nexx-helmets.com crosses out the FIM racing standard, so the helmet is not suited to series that require an FIM racing certificate. SHARP has not tested it yet and no independent noise measurement exists; we prefer stating that to inventing numbers. Accessories made for the X.R3R, including its visors, Pinlocks and spoiler, are not compatible.
About the box contents for Jaggo
For the other carbon X.R5R decors Nexx publishes the list of included accessories. The three Jaggo pages are the exception: they show no list. The contents below are therefore the carbon X.R5R package as stated by Nexx for its sister decors; for Jaggo it is not separately confirmed.
In the box
- 1x helmet (X-PRO Carbon, four shell sizes)
- 1x Pinlock 200 XLT MaxVision anti-fog lens
- 1x fitted visor + 1x second visor
- 1x spoiler extensor (tool-free, up to 20 mm)
- 1x chin action-camera mount; wind deflector
- 1x racing bag
Two further points are open: Nexx does not give the tint of the second visor, and it does not say whether the Pinlock is fitted at the factory. If either matters for your purchase, ask us and we will check a delivered carton.
