DescriptionThe whole story▼
If Black Grey is the stealth version of Jaggo, Blue Red is the one people will ask you about in the paddock. Pale sky-blue bodywork, a dappled spot pattern and flashes of signal red sit on a gloss carbon shell, the new X.R5R that Nexx launched on 27 October 2026. Beneath the colour you get a racing full-face of about 1,325 grams (M shell), four shell sizes, a locking race visor and a tool-free spoiler extension. Sizes XS to XXL, ECE 22.06.
The Jaggo Carbon Blue Red look
The Nexx side view shows wide panels in a soft, powdery light blue running from the chin over the cheek and up along the visor opening. Inside those panels, and across the exposed carbon on the crown and the spoiler, there are irregular rosette spots in deeper blue and slate, a print that recalls an animal coat but in cool colours. Red appears as accents: a block on the forehead above the visor and another at the front of the chin bar, both placed where they catch the eye from the front. A silver R and a fine red X-PRO Carbon script mark the top of the shell, with the Nexx name in white on the side. Nexx photographed it with a dark visor. Light blue does not hide road grime as well as black, so expect to wipe it after rain rides, but a pastel shell reflects more sunlight and is easier for other road users to pick out. Nexx does not state whether the coloured panels are matt or gloss; in the photo the blue looks softer than the lacquered carbon around it.
Getting the fit right
A race helmet only works if it stays put when your chin is on the tank. Nexx gives the X.R5R its 360° Custom Fit interior, in which pads around the crown and the cheeks can be swapped for thicker or thinner ones to tighten or relax the fit. The fabric is X-Mart Dry, intended to dry quickly, and every part of the liner can be removed and washed. According to the manual, the interior leaves room for glasses. Four shell sizes cover the range (XXS-S, M, L, XL-XXL), so the outer dimensions grow in sensible steps. We carry XS to XXL; measure your head circumference and use the size chart before ordering.
Air management
Nexx has given this helmet eight intakes and five exhausts. You can shut the chin intake and the top intakes individually, and further airflow enters through the cheek pads. The Air Cumbs chamber inside spreads the incoming air over the head before the rear outlets extract it. For a pastel helmet on a summer track day that combination matters: the lighter colour absorbs less heat, and the vents remove what still builds up.
Weight in context
The carbon X.R5R weighs approx. 1,325 g ± 50 g in the M shell, according to Nexx. For orientation within the brand:
- X.R5R in X-Matrix 2 composite: approx. 1,475 g, same four shells
- X.R3R Carbon: approx. 1,350 g, three shells, six intakes
- X.R3R Speedcore in X-Matrix 2: approx. 1,650 g
Of these four, the carbon X.R5R is both the lightest and the one with the most vents. Less weight is most noticeable at the end of long sessions and on bikes with a very low, stretched riding position.
Rear spoiler extension
The spoiler is part of the shell and can be lengthened by up to 20 mm with an extensor that slides into place without tools. It is supplied with the carbon package. Riders who spend most of their time tucked tend to prefer the extended version; on the road, the shorter setting is usually enough. Because the extensor slides in rather than being screwed on, as the launch coverage of the X.R5R pointed out, you can change your mind between sessions without carrying a tool roll, and there are no small screws to lose in the gravel of a paddock.
Visor details
The visor runs on a smaller Recoil mechanism with three intermediate stops. The X-Race locking system keeps it firmly closed at speed. Tear-off posts are already prepared, and a Pinlock 200 XLT MaxVision anti-fog insert is part of the carbon X.R5R kit. Because the visor mechanism is new, visors from the X.R3R will not fit.
Camera, intercom and hydration
Below the chin, a camera mount turns through a full circle and locks in four positions, giving a clean forward or rear-facing view. The shell is ready for a universal intercom, and straps for an X-Hidro drinking tube are fitted. Reflectors in the shell add some visibility at night, and a wind deflector reduces draughts from below.
ECE 22.06 explained
All new road helmets sold in Europe since 2024 must hold ECE 22.06. The standard tests impact absorption at numerous points and at more than one speed, adds oblique impacts on a rough surface to measure rotational forces, and evaluates the visor in more detail than the old 22.05. Strap and closure are a double D-ring with Peraluman rings on the carbon models and a magnetic X-Lock end holder; cheek pads can be removed in an emergency.
Noise
No decibel value exists for the X.R5R: Nexx does not publish one and independent tests have not appeared yet. As a racing design it is optimised for a tucked position; upright on an unfaired bike it will be louder. Earplugs are a sensible companion on longer rides.
Shortcomings
There is no sun visor inside the shell. The helmet is not FIM homologated, as the Nexx page for this colourway marks the FIM racing standard with a cross, so it does not qualify for series that require it. SHARP has not rated it yet. Note also that X.R3R visors, Pinlocks and spoilers are incompatible. According to the launch coverage, every plastic part of the X.R5R is replaceable, but at launch the Nexx accessory catalogue does not yet list dedicated X.R5R spares, so a second tinted visor may take a little time to become available.
In the box
- 1x helmet (X-PRO Carbon, four shell sizes)
- 1x Pinlock 200 XLT MaxVision anti-fog lens
- 1x fitted visor + 1x second visor
- 1x spoiler extensor (tool-free, up to 20 mm)
- 1x chin action-camera mount; wind deflector
- 1x racing bag
A word of caution on this list: Nexx publishes included accessories for its other carbon X.R5R decors, but the Jaggo pages carry none. What you see above is the carbon package as Nexx lists it for those sister decors; for Jaggo it has not been confirmed separately. The tint of the second visor is not named either, nor whether the Pinlock is pre-fitted. We will check a delivered carton on request.
