DescriptionThe whole story▼

Hi-vis yellow is the only finish in this range chosen for a measurable reason rather than an aesthetic one, and on a sport-touring helmet that spends its life on open roads it is the version with the strongest argument behind it.

A full 6K carbon shell at about 1450 grams

🔵 A note on carbon that sellers rarely make: carbon is chosen for stiffness at low mass, not for being unbreakable. It spreads load across a wider area of EPS than a heavier shell of equal strength, and it does so while weighing less on your neck.

What it does not do is survive an impact and carry on. Like every helmet, the Dragon is finished after one.

SHARP 4 stars — and what that rating rests on

🔵 Read a star rating as a comparison, not a guarantee. SHARP's 4 stars tell you the Dragon performed well against other helmets in the same test programme — not that it will protect you in a particular crash, which depends on speed, angle and what you hit.

ECE 22.06 approval sits alongside it as the legal minimum every road helmet must clear.

Road, not race: no FIM homologation

The Dragon is a fast road and sport-touring helmet rather than a competition one, and its approvals reflect that: ECE 22.06, with no FIM homologation.

🔵 That is the correct specification for what it is. It only becomes a problem if you take it to a race meeting expecting it to pass scrutineering — use the FF805 Thunder GP Pro FIM for that.

About the Trax hi-vis yellow graphic

Fluorescent yellow-green does something ordinary paint cannot: it absorbs ultraviolet and re-emits it as visible light, so it returns more light than falls on it. That is why it works hardest in precisely the conditions where a motorcyclist is least visible — heavy overcast, dusk, rain, the low grey light of a European winter afternoon — when there is plenty of UV in the sky and very little useful contrast on the road. It also sits at the wavelength the human eye is most sensitive to in daylight, which is why emergency services across Europe converged on it independently. On a helmet, at head height, above the headlight, it works on the part of you a driver's eye actually scans. 🔵 Two honest costs: it is the loudest finish here and not to everyone's taste, and fluorescent pigment does fade with UV exposure over years — garage rather than windowsill.

The Twin Visor System

🔵 The button catch on the main visor is worth a sentence. A visor that can lift at motorway speed is both a noise problem and a safety one; a positive mechanical lock removes the question, and it releases with a gloved thumb.

Behind it, the internal shield drops with a slider on the left of the shell.

Pinlock 120 and a second visor, both in the box

🔵 The most useful item in this box is the one with the least glamour. A Pinlock 120 MaxVision insert transforms cold-weather riding, and it is fitted to the visor rather than sold as an upgrade.

The tinted second visor is the headline inclusion; the Pinlock is the one you will use every winter.

Ventilation — documented, not measured

🔵 What you can rely on for winter riding is the fog control rather than the airflow: a Pinlock 120 MaxVision insert as standard and a breath deflector fitted, which together handle the condition that actually stops people riding in November.

The ventilation layout — carbon chin and crown intakes, channelled EPS, carbon rear exhaust — is documented but not independently measured.

Double D-ring and the Emergency Release System

🔵 Two retention details worth knowing together. The double D-ring cannot slip and needs no adjustment because there is no set position — you pull it to the tension you want on each ride.

And the Emergency Release System means a responder can take the cheek pads out before lifting the helmet, which is exactly what you want if you are not able to help.

X-Static lining, head shape and comfort

🔵 A new helmet should feel tight without hurting. Padding compresses over the first few hours of use and again over the first season, so the size that feels perfect in the shop is usually a size too big by the following summer.

Buy on the snug side. The Dragon's lining comes out completely, and replacement cheek pads are available if it loosens further with age.

Where it sits in LS2's range

🔵 Eight finishes, two price points. The plain matt carbon and the forged carbon sit at 407 €; the six painted graphics at 424 €. Nothing else changes between them.

Choose on how you want the helmet to look, not on what you think the extra 17 € buys in performance — it buys paint.

When something wears out

🔵 Never clean a carbon shell with solvent, petrol or alcohol. The lacquer over the weave is the UV barrier for the resin underneath, and once it is attacked the damage is invisible at first and structural later.

Warm water and a soft cloth is the whole procedure. Spares: visors, Pinlock, cheek pads, lining, vent caps, breath deflector.

In the box

  • LS2 FF807 Dragon helmet — Trax (6K carbon monocoque)
  • Clear main visor, fitted, with button lock and tool-free quick release
  • Pinlock® 120 MaxVision™ anti-fog insert
  • A complete second visor in a tint — 🔵 daylight use only in most European jurisdictions
  • Breath deflector, fitted
  • Integrated drop-down sun visor, fitted
  • Reflective safety patch
  • 🔵 No intercom — the helmet is prepared for the current LS2 Bluetooth system; the system itself is a separate purchase

Size guide

🔵 Buy tight. Every helmet loosens as the padding compresses — noticeably over the first few hours and again across the first season — so the correct size at purchase is the one that feels slightly too snug.

Eight sizes from 2XS to 3XL, on three separate carbon shells.

S 55–56 cm

Specification

  • Model — LS2 FF807 Dragon
  • Part number — 168075254
  • Colour — Trax — Gloss hi-vis yellow over carbon
  • Homologation — ECE 22.06
  • 🟢 Safety rating — SHARP 4 stars of 5, tested August 2025. 🔵 SHARP's entry reads „LS2 Dragon GP Carbon" with no FF807 code; weight (1.45 kg), carbon shell, double D-ring and body style all match exactly, and LS2 makes only one Dragon
  • 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet, not eligible for FIM-sanctioned competition. LS2's FIM helmet is the FF805 Thunder GP Pro FIM
  • Shell — 6K carbon monocoque — carbon throughout, not a carbon layer over composite; three shell sizes (2XS–S / M–L / XL–3XL)
  • Impact liner — multi-density EPS with moulded ventilation channels
  • Weight — approx. 1450 g (±50 g), middle shell; measured independently at about 1280 g (smallest shell) and 1500 g (largest)
  • Sizes — 2XS to 3XL (eight sizes)
  • Head shape — Intermediate Oval per LS2; the independent road test calls the fit enveloping, with a close neck roll
  • Optics — Twin Visor System — main visor plus fully retracting sun visor; scratch- and UV-treated, button lock, tool-free release
  • Anti-fog — Pinlock® 120 MaxVision™ insert included, plus a fitted breath deflector
  • 🔴 Second visor — a complete tinted visor is included — daylight only: most European jurisdictions bar tinted visors at night and in poor visibility
  • Ventilation — carbon-capped chin and crown intakes, EPS channels, carbon rear exhaust. 🔵 Deliberately left unrated — no independent test measures this helmet's airflow; LS2's description is a feature list, not a result
  • Retention — double D-ring on a reinforced strap
  • Emergency access — Emergency Release System — pull tabs let responders withdraw the cheek pads before the helmet moves
  • Interior — X-Static® silver antibacterial fabric, laser-cut, fully removable and washable
  • Communication — prepared for the current LS2 Bluetooth intercom — no system supplied. Reflective safety patch fitted
  • Serviceability — visors (clear and tinted), Pinlock insert, cheek pads in several thicknesses, lining, carbon vent caps and breath deflector
  • Replacement guidance — after about five years regardless of condition, and immediately after any impact — carbon can look undamaged over crushed EPS
