Silver is the most neutral of KYT's mirror coatings for the R2R, and that is its appeal: the YAR20VA0 throws back the sky like a chrome surface while sitting comfortably with any paint scheme, from plain matt black to a busy race replica. As a mirrored shield it is for daylight only, never for night riding, dusk, tunnels or poor visibility.
The look of a silver mirror
From the outside the shield reads as polished metal, hiding your eyes completely. Riders choose it when they want the mirrored style without committing to a colour that has to match the helmet. On a grey or white R2R it looks almost technical; on a dark shell it becomes the brightest element of the helmet.
Where it fits into a ride
Underneath the coating it works as a sun shield. Bright summer middays, glare from pale concrete or from water on a coast road are its territory. Once the light weakens, a clear R2R visor takes over; carry one if a trip may stretch towards sunset.
Choosing the mirror does not narrow your view: the shield keeps the R2R full-vision aperture and an optical class 1 rating, the same as KYT gives its other R2R visors.

Looking after a mirrored surface
The mirror effect sits on the outside of the shield, so clean it gently: soften insects with a damp microfibre cloth first instead of rubbing grit across it dry. Storing the visor in a soft bag when it is off the helmet keeps the coating looking even. The anti-scratch treatment helps, but grit dragged across any surface leaves traces.
Compatibility and contents
Made for the KYT R2R only; TT-Revo and R1R owners need the visor for their own model. Silver goes with every graphic among the 13 R2R helmets in our range, which is the point of choosing it; for an R2R Max version, ask us to confirm fit first. The shield is ready for a Pinlock anti-fog insert, but none comes in the box; the MaxVision 70 supplied with the R2R helmet in our scope can be transferred. Tinted and mirrored visors are regulated differently from country to country, so check your local rules.
