DescriptionThe whole story▼
Please note: sale to France is prohibited.
TC-10 is the light blue Sparkle, and it is the least conventional colour in the off-road range. Pale blue is rare on a motocross helmet, which is precisely the reason some riders choose it — nothing else in the gate looks like it.
What this helmet is for — and what it is not
The clearest way to describe what this helmet is for: the track, the trail and the start gate. Sessions rather than journeys, effort rather than cruising, goggles rather than a visor.
🔵 If your riding includes meaningful road mileage, the Hornet ADV 06 covers both worlds with a visor fitted, and we would rather sell you the right helmet than the more exciting one.
About the Sparkle TC-10 graphic
Pale colours behave differently off-road than they do on the road, and mostly in a good way. A light shell reflects rather than absorbs solar load, which on a helmet worn while working hard is a real comfort gain; and a pale field gives a dispersed graphic like Sparkle more contrast to work against than a dark one does, so the drawing reads more clearly. Against a brown track and a green treeline, light blue is also genuinely conspicuous — not fluorescent-yellow conspicuous, but well ahead of any dark colour. What it does not do is hide mud. After a wet session it will look thoroughly used, and it will clean up fine. 🔵 The graphic costs more than a solid, and printed surfaces cannot be touched in after a stone strike.
What MOTORCYCLE NEWS measured
Read the independent verdict for what it is: a road-focused magazine assessing a track helmet, which is exactly the comparison a lot of buyers need. MCN rated the VFX-WR 06 4 out of 5 in March 2026 — excellent in every off-road respect, loud on tarmac.
Comfort scored a full 5.0 and ventilation was called exceptional; the helmet weighed 1250 g.
AIM+, four shells, double-D and EQRS
1250 g is light for a competition off-road helmet with a fibreglass composite shell, and the weight comes from the layup rather than from thinning anything. Six layers of mixed fibre let Shoei put stiffness exactly where the loads are and leave it out where they are not.
Four shell sizes, multi-density EPS with M.E.D.S., double-D retention, EQRS emergency release.
M.E.D.S. — and why it is not MIPS
Two acronyms on this helmet are easy to confuse and worth separating. EQRS is the emergency system that lets a first responder pull the cheek pads out to remove the helmet safely. M.E.D.S. is the rotational-energy system built into the EPS liner.
🔵 And a third that is not on this helmet: MIPS. M.E.D.S. is Shoei's own equivalent, engineered differently.
Seven in, eight out, and a filter in the nose
The airflow path runs from the mouth and brow, over the crown, and out through the rear and upper exhausts — and it works at the speeds a motocross rider actually rides at, which are lower than road speeds and much more variable.
The nose cover's metal mesh and replaceable filter keep the front of that path clear of stones and dust.
Sizing, goggles and Max-Dry
🔵 Padding thickness is the tool for almost every fit problem short of a wrong size. Presses at the cheeks: thinner cheek pads. Moves under load: thicker ones. Hot spot on the crown: a different centre pad.
All of them are available separately for this helmet, in Max-Dry, and all of them come out for washing without tools.
How loud it is on the road
Noise is the one specification on which this helmet is genuinely beaten by cheaper road helmets, and pretending otherwise would not help anyone. What it is not beaten on is ventilation, weight, shell grade or the safety systems built into the liner.
🔵 The independent verdict was 4 out of 5, with road noise the stated reason it was not 5.
Where it sits in Shoei's range
The Hornet ADV 06 is the helmet most VFX-WR shoppers also look at, and the comparison usually comes down to one question: do you ride to the trail or trailer to it? Riding there means a visor and a quieter shell matter; trailering means they do not.
🔵 This helmet has no visor and, per MCN, substantial road noise. That is the whole difference.

When something breaks
Helmets are consumables with a long life rather than permanent objects. Shoei recommends replacement after around five years of use regardless of condition, and immediately after any real impact — the EPS crushes once and does not recover.
Between those points everything you touch is replaceable: peaks, mouthpieces, filters, mud guards and Max-Dry padding in several thicknesses.
