Matt titanium is the version that asks nothing of you. It is neither the brightest nor the darkest nor the most interesting, and after five seasons of real touring it will look better than any of them.

Four stars from SHARP — and this is the helmet they tested

🔵 The 63 % figure, stated plainly. In SHARP's impact tests the Advant X's chin bar was fully locked 63 % of the time. That is neither unusual nor reassuring on its own — it is how modular helmets behave.

🟢 It matters less than it sounds because of the P/J dual homologation: this helmet is tested and approved with the bar open as well as closed.

A flip-up with P/J dual homologation

🔵 The 180-degree rotation is not a styling detail. A chin bar parked on the forehead catches air, adds lift at speed and sits in your upper field of view; one folded flat against the back of the shell does none of those.

🟢 It is what makes riding with the bar up genuinely usable rather than merely possible.

HPFC composite, multi-density EPS — and only two shell sizes

Composite is a different proposition from thermoplastic: fibre and resin laid up rather than injection-moulded, which gives more strength per gram and costs considerably more to produce.

🔵 At 1600 g the Advant X is not light for a composite helmet, because a modular carries a hinge, a lock, a second screen and a sun-visor mechanism that a full-face does not.

About the solid matt titanium finish

Two properties combine here and they compound. First, a mid grey is the value at which road film, dried rain and garage dust all show least — obvious against white, a haze against black, invisible against titanium. Second, a flat finish has no clear coat for handling marks to catch in, and a modular helmet accumulates a lot of handling: the chin-bar release, the sun-visor slider, the constant lifting and setting down. Between them they produce a helmet that stays looking maintained without being maintained. 🔵 It also sits high enough on the value scale to be resolved against tarmac more readily than a black helmet, so the discretion does not cost you conspicuity in the way black does. One absolute rule: matt is washed, never polished. Abrasive compound cuts a permanently shiny patch into a flat coat and nothing will blend it back out. If you are choosing between this and the gloss Nardo grey at the same price, it comes down to how carefully you intend to wash the helmet. Gloss rewards care and punishes a dry cloth; matt forgives almost anything except polish. On a modular that spends its life being picked up and set down, matt is the more forgiving of the two by some margin.

Twin Visor, Pinlock 120 and a tinted spare

🔵 The tinted second visor is a daylight accessory. Across most European jurisdictions a tinted visor may not be used at night or in poor visibility — carry the clear one if the day might outlast the light.

🟢 The internal sun shield covers the changing-light case that a tinted visor cannot, and retracts in a second.

Chin and crown intakes, channelled EPS

🟢 A modular helmet has a ventilation advantage no full-face can match: open the chin bar. At walking pace in a queue, that does more than any vent design, and the P/J homologation means it is a legal configuration rather than an improvisation.

🔵 With the bar closed, the intakes and channelled EPS do the work.

Metal buckle and the Emergency Release System

Correct strap tension: snug under the jaw with room for one finger and no more. If you can roll the helmet forward off your head with the strap fastened, it is loose or the wrong size.

🔵 A ratchet holds at a preset length and that length drifts as the padding beds in — re-check it after the first rides and each season after.

Lining, comfort — and the X-Static this version does not have

Laser-cut edges matter more than they sound. A stitched or crushed seam inside a helmet is a ridge, and a ridge sitting on your forehead for four hours becomes the only thing you can think about.

🔵 The lining is hypoallergenic and breathable, without the X-Static treatment the carbon version carries.

Where it sits in LS2's range

Within this model the price ladder is entirely paint. The six plain finishes and the pricier ten graphics share one shell, one liner, one equipment list and one SHARP result.

Care and replacement parts

On a modular, the hinge and lock are the parts that see the most cycles. Operate the chin bar deliberately rather than snatching it, and keep the mechanism clean and dry.

Size guide

A tape gets you to the right size; it cannot tell you about head shape. If a correctly-measured helmet presses at the temples while gapping at the forehead, that is shape rather than size.
