Alizer in black and red is the most conventional of the three versions of this graphic and the one that will look correct longest. Red on black has meant fast motorcycle since before most of us started riding.

A four-star shell in six sizes

About the Alizer black and red graphic

The pairing survives because it works at distance: red is the most saturated colour that still reads clearly against both tarmac and vegetation, and a dark ground gives it maximum separation. That is why it has outlasted sixty years of changing helmet fashion without ever quite going away. 🔵 There is one thing specific to red worth knowing before you choose it. Of all the pigments used on helmets it is the most vulnerable to ultraviolet, because the organic pigments that give a red its saturation break down faster than the inorganic ones behind black, grey and blue. That is why a red helmet stored on a parcel shelf across several summers fades in a way a grey one does not. Modern clear coats carry UV inhibitors and slow this considerably, so it is a reason to store the helmet sensibly rather than to avoid the colour. On the road it performs well — better than black, below white and fluorescent yellow. If you are comparing the three Alizer versions, this is the most conventional and the most likely to still look right in five years, while the matt white and silver is the one with a real road advantage and the matt black and blue is the easiest to keep clean. None of them changes anything about how the helmet protects you.

Two visors in the box, a third inside the shell

🟢 Sunset on a westbound road is the case that settles the argument for an internal shield, and it is the one a fixed tint handles worst — half an hour later it is dark and you are still behind it.

🔵 The Vector II gives you both: a drop-down shield and a spare tinted visor in the box.

Holding on, and letting go

🔵 What the emergency release does, precisely: it does not release the strap. It releases the cheek pads, so the helmet can be drawn off with far less pressure against the jaw and neck.

On a helmet as close-fitting as this one, that clearance matters more than usual.

🔵 Everything that touches your head comes out for washing in a couple of minutes, and everything that comes out is available as a replacement part.

Over five years that matters more than any fabric name on a label.

Size guide

If you fall between two sizes, take the smaller one and let the padding settle. A helmet that slips on easily and feels immediately pleasant is usually a size too big — and on this helmet, easy to put on is a warning sign rather than a virtue.
