DescriptionThe whole story▼
Designed to keep you fresh and focused whether you're pushing through a long sport-touring day or attacking a trackday session, the KYT R1R in plain grey delivers race-derived protection wrapped in an interior engineered around all-day comfort. The understated matte grey finish pairs effortlessly with any motorcycle, and the tricomposite shell keeps the total weight down to approximately 1,450 g so fatigue never becomes a factor.
Key Features
- Tricomposite shell — carbon, aramid fibres and fibreglass combined for exceptional impact resistance across three shell sizes
- ECE 22.06 approved for road and track use
- Hydrocool interior liner wicks heat and moisture rapidly, removes fully for washing, and features quick-release cheek pads for emergency use
- Race visor with rototranslation mechanism, metal racing lock and tool-free replacement — includes Pinlock MaxVision 70 as standard
- Multiple air intakes, integrated channels and an aerodynamic spoiler maintain a cool, controlled helmet temperature at all speeds
- Ready for glasses wearers and prepared for Bluetooth/intercom speaker installation in the cheek pads
All-Day Comfort That Keeps Pace With You
The Hydrocool liner is the centrepiece of the R1R's comfort story. Its moisture-management surface pulls warmth and sweat away from your skin efficiently, so the helmet stays cool and dry on a two-hour commute just as readily as on a full trackday. When you're done, the liner lifts out completely for a thorough machine wash. The quick-release cheek pad system adds a practical safety dimension: first responders can remove the pads without tools or risk of head movement. A thoughtful glasses-ready design means riders who wear spectacles can suit up without compromise, and the pre-routed speaker pockets mean a Bluetooth communicator can be fitted without hacking or cramping the interior.
Tricomposite Shell — Strength Where It Matters
KYT builds the R1R shell from a carefully layered blend of carbon, aramid and fibreglass. The result is a structure that distributes and absorbs impact energy efficiently while staying genuinely lightweight at approximately 1,450 g (± 50 g, size M). Three distinct shell sizes ensure the helmet geometry scales with the rider's head rather than relying on thick padding to fill the gap — a detail that matters enormously over a full day's riding. Every R1R meets the demanding ECE 22.06 homologation, making it legal and appropriate for both public roads and circuit use.
Race Visor System
The wide visor aperture gives a generous vertical and peripheral field of view — exactly what you need when braking late into a corner or filtering in traffic. Optical Class 1 clarity and UV 380 protection ensure undistorted vision in all light conditions, while a scratch-resistant coating extends the visor's working life. The metal racing lock holds the visor firmly shut against aerodynamic pressure at speed, and the rototranslation mechanism allows smooth, precise adjustment. Swapping visors requires no tools at all, and the included Pinlock MaxVision 70 insert virtually eliminates fogging whatever the weather.
Ventilation Built for Speed
The R1R's ventilation architecture channels fresh air through multiple intakes, routes it via internal ducts across the interior and expels warm air through the rear. Turbulence is minimised by the aerodynamic spoiler, which also reduces buffeting at motorway speeds. The system works at low speeds in traffic and at full track pace, making it one of the more versatile features on a helmet at this price point.
