How to measure your helmet size correctly: To find the right helmet size, measure your head circumference with a flexible tape measure.
It is important that the tape measure runs around the widest part of the head – only then will you get a correct result.
Place the tape measure at the front, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and run it along the sides above the ears.
At the back, the tape must run over the largest part of the back of the head (not too low on the neck). The tape may run slightly at an angle – what matters is that it sits all the way around the largest points of the head.
Make sure the tape measure sits snugly but does not dig in. Measure 2–3 times for the most accurate result. You can then compare the measured value in centimetres (cm) with our size chart.
Tips for an accurate result
- Keep hair flat (e.g. do not measure over a voluminous hairstyle)
- Keep the tape horizontal, i.e. along the largest circumference
- Do not measure too loosely
- For values between two sizes:
→ usually choose the larger size (depending on helmet model / fit)
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without causing uncomfortable pressure points.
A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

The KYT R1R in Carbon Diamond Blue / Yellow is where motorsport heritage and artisan finish converge. The exposed tricomposite shell — woven carbon fibre threaded with aramid and fibreglass — catches the light in a way that mass-produced paint never can, and the electric blue and yellow accents cut across that natural carbon weave with the kind of graphic confidence you see on factory MotoGP machines. This is part Y6R10005: a helmet that tells a story before you even fasten the double-D ring.
Key Features
- Tricomposite shell (carbon, aramid fibres, fibreglass) delivers outstanding impact resistance at an exceptionally low weight of approximately 1,450 g ± 50 g (size M)
- ECE 22.06 homologated — the current European safety standard for road and track use
- Racing visor with roto-translation mechanism, metal racing lock and tool-free visor swap
- Pinlock MaxVision 70 included as standard — optical class 1, scratch-resistant, UV 380 protection
- Hydrocool inner liner: fully removable and washable, with emergency quick-release cheek pads
- Speaker/intercom preparation recessed into the cheek pads; ready for glasses wearers
Shell, Construction and the Diamond Finish
KYT built the R1R shell around a tricomposite layup — carbon fibre for torsional rigidity, aramid to absorb and distribute impact energy, and fibreglass to control flex. The result is a structure that stays composed under the kind of loads a trackday or sprint race generates, without the head-fatigue that heavier composite shells cause on long days. The Diamond Blue / Yellow graphic is not a vinyl wrap; it is integrated into the shell's outer finish so the carbon weave reads through the colour, giving the helmet its distinctive depth and the visual signature that separates it from every painted sibling in the R1R range.
Visor System
The R1R's racing visor pivots on a roto-translation mechanism — the lens swings up and back rather than simply rotating, which keeps the aperture clear of the shell edge at all intermediate positions and makes partial openings usable rather than turbulent. The metal racing lock clicks closed with a positive, single-handed action and holds the visor sealed against buffeting at motorway and circuit speeds. When conditions change, the tool-free release lets you swap lenses in seconds without fumbling for a coin or a screwdriver. Every R1R ships with a Pinlock MaxVision 70 insert that fits the dedicated prepared lens, eliminating fogging across a wide temperature range.
Ventilation and Aerodynamics
Multiple inlet channels draw air across the crown and through the interior, while a rear aerodynamic spoiler manages outflow and keeps the helmet planted at speed. The integrated chin deflector and nose guard channel turbulence away from the face rather than letting it build inside the shell, so interior temperatures stay manageable even on fast, sustained runs. The aerodynamic profile was shaped with racing in mind — there is no pronounced lift or shake at triple-digit speeds.
Interior Comfort
The Hydrocool liner draws moisture away from the skin rather than letting it saturate the padding, which matters on a trackday when you need consistent focus across multiple sessions. The cheek pads release without tools — a genuine safety consideration recommended by first-responder guidelines — and every piece of the liner comes out for machine washing. A recessed channel in each cheek pad accommodates most intercoms and speaker sets, and the glasses-friendly cut means riders who wear spectacles will not spend five minutes negotiating the fit.
Fitment and Compatibility
The KYT R1R Y6R10005 is a full-face racing helmet approved for road and track use under ECE 22.06. It is available in sizes XS through XXL and is suitable for any rider seeking a lightweight, high-performance helmet for sport riding, trackdays or club-level racing. To select the correct size, measure your head circumference just above the eyebrows. If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger of the two.
