Dieselbe Bewegungsunschärfe-Grafik wie beim blauen Light-Blur, nur in einem Verlauf von Türkis nach Grün: schwarze Schale, darüber eine Fläche, die aussieht, als sei sie in der Bewegung fotografiert worden. Der Farbwechsel innerhalb des Motivs lebt vom Winkel, unter dem man den Helm betrachtet. Womit der Skwal i3 tatsächlich auffällt, ist allerdings kein Lackeffekt, sondern das aktive Leuchtsystem im Inneren der Schale — Bremslicht hinten in Rot, Positionslicht vorn in Weiß, laut Shark die erste Serienumsetzung dieser Art.

Technik statt Marketing: der Sensor

Das Licht reagiert auf Physik, nicht auf ein Signal vom Motorrad. Im Helm arbeitet ein Beschleunigungsaufnehmer, der drei Raumachsen abtastet und daran erkennt, wie stark Ihr Kopf gebremst wird. Ist die Verzögerung normal, pulsiert das rote Heckfeld dreimal in der Sekunde; wird hart gebremst, sind es fünf Impulse. Die weiße Frontbeleuchtung hängt an einem eigenen Kreis und ist nicht an den Bremsvorgang gekoppelt. Weder eine App noch eine Bluetooth-Verbindung ist Teil des Konzepts, was eine mögliche Fehlerquelle von vornherein ausschließt.

Energieversorgung im Detail

Verbaut ist ein nicht wechselbarer Akku. Den Ladeanschluss bildet USB-C; Shark legt das Kabel bei und hat im Nackenschutz einen Platz dafür vorgesehen. Etwa drei Stunden am Netz genügen für eine volle Ladung, aus der rund zwölf Stunden Blinkbetrieb werden. Zwei Ruhemechanismen greifen automatisch: Eine Minute ohne registrierte Bewegung führt in den Bereitschaftszustand, drei Tage ohne Nutzung zur vollständigen Abschaltung. Für den Fall eines nahezu leeren Akkus nennt Shark in der Anleitung das konkrete Verhalten: Das System startet noch, beendet sich aber fast augenblicklich wieder und verlangt nach Strom.

Der Helm als Ganzes: Schale und Dämpfung

Die äußere Hülle ist Polycarbonat im Spritzgussverfahren, Werkstoffmarke Lexan. Innen steckt ein EPS-Kern, dessen Dichte über die Struktur variiert, sodass nicht alle Bereiche gleich stark komprimieren. Der Kinnriemen wird über Mikrometrik geschlossen — ein Zahnband, das auf eine feste Position einrastet, an jedem Fahrtag reproduzierbar sitzt und sich mit einem Zug öffnen lässt. Anders als beim Skwal Cup ist kein Doppel-D-Ring verbaut.

Wie die Luft durch den Helm geht

Shark beschreibt die Belüftung als mehrkanalig, mit Einlässen an der Stirn und Extraktoren am Hinterkopf, verzichtet aber auf Stückzahlen. Eine unabhängige Redaktion hat nachgezählt: vier Einlässe, zwei Auslässe. Ob sie sich verschließen lassen, geht aus keiner Quelle hervor, die wir verwenden.

Die Scheibe

Verbaut ist ein Visier der Serie VZ400, das auch am D-Skwal 3, Ridill 2, Skwal Cup und Skwal i Cup eingesetzt wird. Die optische Einstufung lautet Klasse 1, die Materialstärke geht von drei auf 2,2 Millimeter zurück, und ein Vortex-Generator ist Teil der Form. Eine Antikratz-Schicht schützt die Oberfläche. Der Pinlock-70-Einsatz ist ab Werk eingelegt, seine Anpressung lässt sich nachstellen, und genau das entscheidet bei Kälte und Nässe darüber, ob die Sicht frei bleibt. Gewechselt wird über den zentralen Griff mit Mittelverriegelung — Werkzeug braucht es nicht. Für Sharks photochrome IRID-Scheiben ist der Skwal i3 nicht freigegeben, dafür führt der Hersteller nur AERON GP, AERON und RACE R PRO.

Türkis-Grün in der Praxis

Helle Farbflächen haben im Straßenverkehr einen Vorteil, der unabhängig von jeder Elektronik funktioniert: Sie heben sich vom grauen Hintergrund einer Stadt besser ab als Schwarz. Der Türkis-Grün-Verlauf dieses Dekors bringt diese Wirkung über einen guten Teil der Schale. Die Lackierung ist glänzend ausgeführt, was den Verlauf tiefer erscheinen lässt, dafür aber feine Kratzer deutlicher zeigt als eine matte Oberfläche. Polituren sind hier unbedenklich. Wer zwischen der blauen und der grünen Light-Blur-Variante schwankt: technisch besteht kein Unterschied, die Entscheidung ist rein optisch.

Zur Gewichtsangabe

1.570 Gramm nennt Shark — bezogen auf die erste und damit kleinste Schalengröße, nicht auf ein M. In einer unabhängigen Presseerprobung taucht dieselbe Zahl auf, ebenfalls ohne Größenangabe. Der Wert ist also mehrfach belegt, seine Zuordnung nicht, und eine M-Zahl wird hier nicht ergänzt. Bedeutung hat das vor allem auf längeren Etappen, weil der Nacken die Masse dauerhaft hält. Zum Vergleich: Straßenzugelassene Integralhelme in unserem Programm bewegen sich ungefähr zwischen 1.250 und 1.800 Gramm, und der Skwal i3 ordnet sich mittig ein.

Sonnenblende und Zubehör

Die innenliegende Blende wird über einen Schieber am Oberkopf bedient und lässt sich im Fahren nutzen. Das Futter ist auf Brillengestelle abgestimmt, sodass die Bügel geführt werden. Kommunikationssysteme der Sharktooth- und SENA-Familien sitzen ohne Umbau. Für den kompletten Helm gilt eine Herstellergarantie von fünf Jahren.

Windgeräusche ohne Zahl

Ein Messwert in Dezibel liegt für dieses Modell nicht vor, jedenfalls in keiner Quelle, auf die wir uns stützen. Statt eine Zahl zu konstruieren, geben wir die Beobachtung einer unabhängigen Dauererprobung wieder: kein auffällig hoher Pegel, kein isolierbarer Bereich der Schale, der Geräusche verursacht. Die Redaktion führt das auf das beidseitig kräftige Nackenpolster und einen großzügig geschnittenen Kinnvorhang zurück. Was Sie tatsächlich hören, hängt daneben von der Windschutzscheibe und der Sitzposition ab.

Prüfnorm

Der Helm ist nach ECE 22.06 zugelassen, in der EU seit Januar 2024 Pflicht für neue Homologationen. Gegenüber 22.05 wurde der Prüfumfang deutlich erweitert: achtzehn Aufschlagpunkte anstelle von fünf, mehrere Aufprallgeschwindigkeiten statt einer, dazu ein schräger Aufprall auf einen rauen Amboss, der Dreh- und Streifkräfte einbringt. Neu ist außerdem die Ermittlung des Brain Injury Criterion für Rotationsbelastung. Geprüft wird der vollständig ausgerüstete Helm mit Visier, Pinlock und angebauter Sprechanlage. Auf dem Etikett steht 2206, ein FIM-Zusatz für den Rennsport fehlt.

Größen

Sechs Größen zwischen XS und XXL. Wie viele Rohschalen Shark dafür einsetzt, ist nicht veröffentlicht; entsprechende Zahlen aus Händlerquellen übernehmen wir nicht. Für die Passform zählt der gemessene Kopfumfang.

Preisrahmen

Diese Ausführung ist mit 349,99 € ausgezeichnet. Die Straßenmodelle von Shark staffeln sich darunter: Ridill 2 ab 189,99 €, D-Skwal 3 ab 219,99 €, Skwal Cup je nach Dekor zwischen 269,99 € und 339,99 €. Keines davon verfügt über ein Lichtsystem. Der Skwal i Cup ab 329,99 € ist der einzige weitere Helm mit dieser Ausstattung. Der Preisunterschied zum Cup entsteht im Wesentlichen durch die Elektronik.

Was sich später ersetzen lässt

Die VZ400-Scheibe und der Pinlock-70-Einsatz sind gemeinsame Ersatzteile von fünf Shark-Modellen und laufen unter denselben Nummern. Ein zerkratztes Visier lässt sich damit einzeln tauschen, ohne den Helm infrage zu stellen.

Die ehrliche Liste der Lücken

Der Skwal i3 hat keine SHARP-Sterne. Das britische Programm hat den früheren Skwal und den Skwal 2 mit je vier Sternen bewertet — andere Helme, andere Generation, kein LED-System, keine Übertragung auf dieses Modell. Zugelassen ist nur nach ECE 22.06 ohne FIM. Nicht vorhanden sind MIPS, ein elektronisches Notentriegelungssystem, Tear-off-Stifte und die IRID-Freigabe; geschlossen wird per Ratsche statt per Doppel-D-Ring. Und dann die Frage, auf die es keine gesicherte Antwort gibt: Darf das integrierte Bremslicht auf deutschen Straßen benutzt werden? Shark behauptet das nicht. Die Bedienungsanleitung weist den Fahrer ausdrücklich an, die Gesetzeslage seines Landes zu prüfen, und nennt für die Leuchte weder E-Prüfzeichen noch Homologationsnummer. In unserer Recherche fand sich weder eine Quelle, die eine StVZO-Konformität bestätigt, noch eine, die sie verneint. Wir tragen diesen Zustand als offen ein, nicht als Freigabe. Wer Sicherheit braucht, holt eine Auskunft bei TÜV oder Zulassungsstelle ein — und behandelt die Helmleuchte in jedem Fall als Ergänzung zur Bremsleuchte des Fahrzeugs.

Was ausgeliefert wird

Der Helm mit montiertem Pinlock-70-Einsatz, das USB-C-Ladekabel für das LED-System im Nackenschutz verstaut sowie die Unterlagen des Herstellers: Garantiebedingungen über fünf Jahre und die Anleitung zum Lichtsystem mit dem Hinweis auf die Prüfung der nationalen Gesetzgebung.
