Was ein offener Helm leistet — und was nicht
🔵 Die Zulassung nach ECE 22.06 gilt für offene Helme in einer eigenen Kategorie. Sie prüft Schale, Dämpfer, Verschluss und Abstreiffestigkeit — aber sie kann nicht prüfen, was nicht da ist: Ein Kinnschutz fehlt konstruktionsbedingt.
🔵 Eine SHARP-Note gibt es nicht, weil das Programm offene Helme gar nicht aufnimmt. Das ist kein schlechtes Ergebnis, sondern gar keines.
Zum matten Braun
Braun funktioniert im Motorradbau fast nirgends und hier vollständig. Der Grund ist Materiallogik, nicht Mode: Dieser Helm ist mit Kunst-Glatt- und -Nubukleder eingefasst, und Braun ist die Farbe, in der Leder von Natur aus vorkommt. Wo ein brauner Sporthelm willkürlich wirkte, sieht der J·O2 in diesem Ton aus, als sei die Schale zur Einfassung gemischt worden und nicht umgekehrt. In Kombination mit einer braunen Lederjacke oder einer Maschine mit braunem Sattel schließt sich das Bild vollends. 🟢 Praktisch ist ein mittleres Braun einer der dankbarsten Töne überhaupt: Es zeigt weder hellen Staub noch dunkle Insektenreste besonders deutlich, und Straßenfilm verschwindet darin. 🔵 Zwei Einschränkungen. Zur Sichtbarkeit trägt ein dunkles Braun wenig bei — es liegt im Helligkeitswert dicht bei Grau. Und für die matte Oberfläche gilt die Regel ohne Ausnahme: einweichen, sanft abnehmen, nicht polieren.
AIM, vier Schalen und ein Doppel-D-Ring
🟢 Der Doppel-D-Ring ist kein Rückschritt gegenüber einer Ratsche, sondern eine bewusste Wahl: Er hat keine Mechanik, die altern kann, hält bei jeder Belastung und lässt sich exakt auf den Hals einstellen. In Rennsport und Klassikszene ist er aus gutem Grund die Norm.
Die Schale darüber ist AIM in vier Größen, das Gewicht liegt bei rund 1150 g.
Das CJ-4-Visier — und das Pinlock, das es dafür nicht gibt
🟢 Sechs Tönungen stehen für das CJ-4 zur Wahl: klar, dunkel getönt, Spectra Silber, Spectra Gold, High Definition Yellow und eine selbsttönende Ausführung. Letztere ist der praktischste Ersatz für die fehlende Sonnenblende.
🔵 Was es dagegen nicht gibt: eine Pinlock-Scheibe — für das CJ-4 wird keine hergestellt.
Druckknöpfe, Schirme und die Motorradbrille
🟢 Vier Aufsätze für dieselbe Schale: Classic, GT, Retro MX und das V-480-Schild. Der Wechsel dauert Sekunden, weil alles über drei Druckknöpfe an der Stirn läuft.
🟢 Praktisch heißt das: ein Helm, mehrere Auftritte — und weil dieselben Teile auf den Shoei EX-Zero passen, ist der Zubehörvorrat übertragbar.
Belüftung ohne einen einzigen Lüfter
🟢 Belüftung ohne einen einzigen sichtbaren Lüfter: Das ist bei einem Integralhelm undenkbar und bei einem Jethelm möglich, weil die Gesichtsöffnung selbst der größte Einlass ist, den ein Helm haben kann.
🔵 Was fehlt, ist die Regelbarkeit — es gibt nichts zu öffnen und nichts zu schließen. Bei kaltem Wetter hilft nur ein Sturmkragen.
Innenraum, Einfassung und die richtige Passform
🔵 Ein Punkt, der offen gehört: Dieser Helm ist nicht für ein Interkom vorbereitet. Es gibt keine Aussparungen für Lautsprecher und kein vorgesehenes System. Wer eines montieren will, muss improvisieren — mit dem Ergebnis, dass es drückt.
🟢 Dafür bietet der Innenraum Brillenkanäle, mehrere Polsterstärken und eine Kunstleder-Einfassung um die Gesichtsöffnung.
Rund 1150 Gramm — und der Rest der ehrlichen Liste
🟢 Bei rund 1150 g ist der J·O2 leicht genug, dass man ihn nach einer Stunde vergisst — die Eigenschaft, die bei einem Helm für den Alltag am meisten zählt.
🔵 Die Gegenrechnung: kein Kinnschutz, keine SHARP-Bewertung (SHARP prüft keine Jethelme), keine Pinlock-Scheibe für das CJ-4 und keine Interkom-Vorbereitung.
Wo er im Shoei-Programm steht
🟢 Die Entscheidung fällt bei diesem Helm selten über technische Merkmale, sondern über die Form. Wer den J·O2 will, will genau diese runde, ununterbrochene Kuppel mit Ledereinfassung — und nimmt dafür in Kauf, was ihm fehlt.
Die vollständig ausgestattete Alternative heißt J-Cruise 3, die formverwandte EX-Zero.
Wenn etwas verschleißt
🟢 Ein praktischer Rat: Weil dieser Helm keine Sonnenblende hat, lohnt sich ein zweites Visier mehr als bei jedem anderen Modell — ein klares und ein getöntes, oder gleich ein selbsttönendes.
